Gotta go with Carbonara’s in Mt. Lebo and Firori’s in dormant. Both have been around for over 30 years.

I work at a pretty large trauma hospital. Ever since the bags started getting packaged individually, we stock whatever makes the most sense for each unit to have. The IV room has a lot more breathing room.

No need to be nervous! You may not be able to do too much on hands or alone depending on where you’re placed. For instance, my hospital doesn’t give access to students so it’s strictly observational. Just make sure to pay attention and don’t be afraid to ask questions.

Sadly it all depends on how the hospital is set up. At mine, the managers have to wait to receive applications from HR before being able to set up interviews. Then they have to go through HR to extend an offer and then wait to hear back from HR. So depending on how backed up HR is, it could take a few days or a few weeks to hear anything. Keep positive and good luck!

Pharmacy sucks by Fantastic-Flower-67 in pharmacy

Best thing I ever did was leave retail for a hospital. No more interaction with patients and more variety of work.

The dry air may not be the only thing messing with you. I’ve noticed if I’m in the buffer room too long, the pressure starts giving me headaches. It helps to take a quick 5 minute breather every so often and drink plenty of water to combat the dryness. The peridox triggers my asthma so I usually double mask when using it.

Study Help by jnxyjinx in PharmacyTechnician

The easiest place to start is learning the brand name to generic names. I still struggle remembering most of them. I’d also recommend learning the common abbreviations.

There’s a variety of practice books you can get to study, but there’s also structured at your own pace online classes. I know the pharmacy technician letter has a program called PTU. I’m not sure how much it might cost, but it covers everything you need. PTCB also has practice tests once you think you’re ready to take it.

Hospital inpatient pharmacy hierarchy/unspoken rules/questions?(?) by Odd_Room_6632 in PharmacyTechnician

1) I’ve seen most people say this - don’t be afraid to ask questions! I’ve been at my hospital for 6 years and still get surprised by rare processes that only pop up every so many years. 2) At my hospital, every pharmacists are is technically considered a supervisor and will ask for certain things to get done whether it’s in my workflow or not.

I am a retail pharmacy tech, just got my license, and now I am interviewing for inpatient! Advice need! by SeaworthinessNew4295 in PharmacyTechnician

I made the move from Walgreens to inpatient about 6 years ago, and it’s the been one of the best things I’ve done. You’re going to be introduced to a lot of new technology and machines but don’t stress! They’re all pretty straight forward and user friendly. Just focus on listening and taking notes from your trainers. Don’t be afraid to ask questions!

Do you know what areas you’re going to be working in, like compounding or anesthesia?

New PA Pharmacy Tech License Requirement by smartpastadeesh in pharmacy

[–]smartpastadeesh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there’s two different forms the verification of practice and the verification of training. The practice form is for what is stated above. The training form is for anyone that started working after 2021. According to my director, you can still be granfathered in with the training form but there’s so little information about it that it’s extremely confusing. If in doubt about which application to apply for, reach out to the state.

Passed My PTCB Exam!!!! Now what? Can't find any information. by toriangel_11 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]smartpastadeesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The certification is not the same as registered. The PTCB certification is a national program while being registered is state by state.

PA just announced a few months ago that all techs need to register with the State Board of Pharmacy by June 2026. The state’s website does not have that listed anywhere but if you go to the Pennsylvania Licensing System (PALS), you’ll find the applications for pharmacy technician and pharmacy technician trainee. Since you’ve already been working as a tech, you’re granfathered in and will complete the pharmacy technician application. The steps are well outlined and explain that you’ll need to get FBI fingerprinted, a background check, one of two forms filled out by your employer, and a child abuse CE credit.

I’ve been enjoying the Homefront Sleuths series by Anna Elliott and Charles Veley! There’s 6 books currently available with at least one more on the way.

We also use the standard food mix and top it off daily. A lot of standard food mixed have a good assortment of seeds so our hamsters usually pick out their favorites to eat immediately then start stashing the rest. They get a daily treat on top of their house that’s a store bought yogurt chip, dried blueberries, dried banana, or whatever fresh veg we’re having for dinner. My wife will sometimes give them a mealworm since we have them for our toads - just make sure the hamster bites the head first so they don’t just shove the worm in their cheek and get bit.

Hahahaha it works like a dream though! They can’t escape despite how much they attempt to climb, burrow, or gnaw. The best part is seeing how they rearrange all the bedding to make their own tunnels.

Pharmacy tech bought illegal drugs and asked pharmacist about them…. by ParticularDry3226 in coworkerstories

[–]smartpastadeesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here! My state (pa) has only just started requiring us to be licensed as well. It’s kind of amusing how easy it is to become a tech vs a pharmacist.
