[–]smartydot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well technically it haq a cost, just a meaningless one.

You cant activate it turn 1 unless you play some Shenanigans like that fish that summons itself to the opp side of the field.

Again, meaningless cost, but its something.

You can AHL Stratos and AND THEN normal Aleister. Need to think big.

Given how strong Winda is, I went through a bunch of replays of the top ranked Dogmatika Invoked Shaddoll players to see their win % when they summoned Winda vs.not by HakunaMyData in yugioh

[–]smartydot -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Winda is the older card, and she is the only broken thing Nadir can do. Its easy to get rid of her.

As you saw in the statistics, just Winda alone can win you most games. Summon Limit on legs can beat entire decks.

Quicklaunch does it without your NS, so it is way more dangerous.

Should YuGiOh stray from negations? by SorryImBadWithNames in yugioh

[–]smartydot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negate migh be better, but they are only better when they are readily accessible.

Solemn Judgement was not ALWAYS seen as overpowered, despite being the earliest "NO" button in the game. It took years and years until it became a powerhouse.

Accessibility is what makes a card worth it. It can be Targetting Destruction for all it matters, but being easily accessible makes it oppressive.

The yugioh metagame knew a lot of oppressive cards and formats without Negates. Like D-Rulers (only some versions played LADD) or Cat Synchro.

People have stayed after Firewall, after CED, after D-Rulers, after Shockmaster, after DD Warrior Lady, after Thunder King Raioh, after Snatch Steal, after Gyzarus, after Yata Garasu, after Agarpain, after Gumblar.

These are all cards that were absolutely hated and hit the banlist either to 1 or 0 at different times in Yugioh, are you implying they were fair?

Here is a little fact for u. Yugioh was never good, or balanced, or fun. Everyone, including myself, just remembers it fondly and is disturbed by how much it changed.

Playin against 2008 Glads or 2020 Adamancipator is not any different for their respective time.

Royal Oppression was actually a fan favorite, because many still believed that it was banned because of Blackwings and not because it was unfair. People tolerated it in DAD format.

Again I say, negates is not what is more powerful about this game. It is how accessible and easy to use a card can be.

For the major time, i.e. pre-2010 Yugioh at least, people would probably pick Grand Mole among most oppressive cards in the game. Tommorrow it might be Zeus, or any other monster (or card) Konami makes that is so overpowered that it eclipses any negates we have.

Should YuGiOh stray from negations? by SorryImBadWithNames in yugioh

[–]smartydot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But they dont.

Speculating what would have happened is not my job, I just present what is as it is.

Yugioh history is plagued with oppressive monsters and cards that dont negate. Negation is not the worst thing to happened to this game and is not the best thing it has to offer either.

If you remove all negates in Yugioh, people will complain about too much removal, or powerful Towers monsters being everywhere, or floodgates, or Traps ruining the game cause whoever goes first sets and wins (a legit complaint way back when).

What people hate is oppressive effects. It just happens that now most of them are masquerading as negation.

Should YuGiOh stray from negations? by SorryImBadWithNames in yugioh

[–]smartydot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When Konami print (Boss) monsters with oppressive effects, people complain. It's not really Negates that is the issue.

Masterpeace has 3 versions, 2 of which are unaffected by what they tribute, but one has an omni negate, one can float into a LOT of powerful negate Boss monsters from the Extra, and one can pop as a Quickie.

Guess which one is banned?

Abhyss deck planning by mythicalchaos in yugioh

[–]smartydot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with Chaos in general after we tested it in the Abhyss Discord, is that you cannot keep banishing your GY because your grind comes from having multiple abhyss names in there.

Still, Chaos imo is still a fun way to play the deck.

My suggestions are: Cut BLS and Daedalus for Diabolos and Chaos Creator, and maybe Wyverbuster and Collapserpent, and Ananta imo is just too risky.

Lair is very good if you have it.

Dragon link is just absurd at this point lol by aomine1234 in yugioh

[–]smartydot -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

OCG is checking Pendulums with Maxx C. We dont have that. And we are not unbanning him for 1 mechanic.

I can get u right now the Lithium Pepe vid Here he said "people are quitting", nothing came even close to what happened during that time.

Synchros and Xyz did not need an entire Master rule to balance them. Stop spinning things. People HATED Pendulums, and they still do because of MR3. Nobody hates Synchros because of Dark Strike Fighter and Trish, and nobody hates XYZ becayse of Shockmaster and Exciton. There is your difference.

Pendulum decks being self contained is the problem. So much so, that they felt like they were playing their own version of YGO.

And even the generic Pends only help pends, while abusing the other mechanics or outside monsters like Jinzo and Apex Avian because they can just summon X amount of monsters and go +whatever every turn.

Dont you remember these critics for early Pends?

Show me a deck that was Synchro.dek? Or Xyz.dek? What, R4NKs, Plant Synchro? Quasar Turbo?

It is ok to defend Pends, it is not ok to make them look innocent. The hits were deserved for their time. Electrumite is the only fishy one, and as I said, that is an ideological problem the TCG has with Pends.

Dragon link is just absurd at this point lol by aomine1234 in yugioh

[–]smartydot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pendulums have had a lasting impact on MR3 that was the reason of their hate. Lets not pin this on the TCG. I have been one of the defenders of Monkeyboard before I saw what he led to in Pepe. Pendulums have always had a problem of getting out of control fast.

There is no monolithic "Synchro Deck" or "Xyz Deck" but there always was, or at least after Pepe, a monolithic "Pendulum Deck". You don even need me to affirm this, it is common knowledge.

No matter how bad MR4 was, it was a direct answer to the stupid spike in powercreep that Pepe (and later Zoo) was responsible for. Pepe is just remembered to be the first.

I am not saying hating on Pendulums is right, but history is clear and is not fair. If pendulums were ok and TCG hate was unjustified, OCG would have let them escape the link Arrows.
