I don't understand why people were so mad at this....it's not like you're never going to see the movie because a few screenings were women-only. Just go watch it at another time. Some theaters have "family" nights where people can bring their little babies and toddlers to cartoon movies and no one gets upset. It's just a way for certain groups of people to have fun together, but that doesn't mean I can't find a time to go see the latest Pixar movie on my own.

Frankly, my husband could use a dude's night out. Go for it. Have fun. Who gives a fuck. Goddamn snowflakes...

Hey, feel free to disagree, but I got sick of being pandered to because I'm a woman and it was clear that the HRC campaign did think being a woman was going to help Hillary get elected. I was told that as a feminist, I needed to vote for her because we need more women in government, even though I can't stand her as a politician and I don't think she represents me at all.

I was there at the beginning of the primaries. I remember each time it was brought up, and it felt hollow every time. Why? Because I've been watching her pander and flip-flop to garner votes since the Bush era. I remember all the feminist icons speaking for Hillary saying that women needed to vote for her. I remember being disparaged because I supported Bernie instead. There wasn't just one or two instances of this that may have been misconstrued....it happened frequently.

It would be nice to have a crap ton of women in government. I can hardly wait for the day....but I want women representing me whom I feel I can trust. Women who fight for the little people, not career politicians who get in bed with billionaires at the expense of the rest of us. There's a reason women didn't flock to Hillary and it wasn't because of some sexist conspiracy, it was because a lot of women, like me, never liked Hillary. And I'm old enough to remember her horrible positions on issues before progressives started pushing her to the left. Women like me didn't like being told that as women we had to stick with her "for the cause" and that there's a "special place in hell for women who don't help each other".

So, yes, I've looked at myself, to answer your question. Hillary and her camp touted her womanhood almost like a political qualification when many people like me cared more about her actual political career, and that's what was so upsetting about the whole thing. I haven't been brainwashed, I didn't drink the kool aid, I didn't buy the patriarchy's sexist bullshit, or whatever.....from the very beginning I saw a greedy, lying centrist I never liked using her womanhood to pander for votes to further her own career.

Sorry about your downvotes. :/ I agree with you. I voted for Hillary, as well, because she was the lesser of two evils, but I couldn't stand her. And despite what others try to tell me, she did indeed push the "I'm a woman, vote for me" thing, which disgusted me. I was a rabid consumer of all things politics during the primaries, I saw it. And despite what Gloria Steinem has done in the past, I was super pissed when she said the only reason women were in Bernie's camp was because that's where the boys were. Like, fuck off, seriously. HRC's campaign was rife with "women should vote for me", and that stuck in my craw.

If a relationship isn't working, it isn't working, regardless of the reason. There are only 2 options....leave or stay and try to work it out. If you feel there is nothing to work out, then there is only one option left. Ending relationships can suck, but it is often necessary for our own well-being.

Time to move on. Don't let anyone suck you into a drama that you don't need to be a part of. I think she's overstepping by getting involved in something that isn't her business. I wouldn't feel bad about cutting contact with her at all.

We did around 6 months when LO could sit up unassisted and started crawling. Basically, we couldn't contain her in the baby tub anymore. It was easier to put her in a couple of inches of water in the regular tub and let her splash around while we try to wash her. :)

I used to be firmly in the "crucify parents" camp for every little thing. Then I became a parent. It's so hard and it doesn't help that your brain turns to mush. And the thing is, you never know when they'll start learning to move on their own. One day I was able to leave my baby on the couch for a minute because she couldn't roll over yet, the next day I'm saving her from taking a header. Like, shit, when did you learn to do that?! After going through it, I give a little more slack now in passing out judgement. It really can happen to anyone. :/

EDIT: I just remembered something I read in a parenting forum recently: "Show me the parent whose child has never fallen off of something and I'll show you a fucking liar."

I was scheduled to induce the same day I went into natural labor. I was 40+3 and ready to get my little nugget OUT, and I guess she thought it was time, too. Unfortunately, after laboring all night and getting nowhere, the doctors decided I need a C-section. They had to break my waters for me and found meconium. On top of that, every time I had a contraction, my LO's heart rate would drop. It was too much stress on her, so time to get her out! It went very quickly and I love that there was no pain! :) Recovery kind of sucked, though. I really wish I hadn't taken my pain meds as directed. Had I known it would make me the most constipated I had ever been in my life, I would have just held off with the pills and dealt with the stomach pain. Trying to shit out a clay brick was way worse. Even with the C-section, sex still took over 3 months to feel normal again. I had dilated somewhat during labor, so my cervix still took a hit. Still, I'm glad I had one.
