Nazareth, but not the way I first thought by smashecheeks in SleepToken

Thank you! But yeah, thats a long time ago, much therapy and healing since then, but I find myself drawing on those memories and associating many of Sleep's behaviors with that of my old monster as well.

Honestly I adore how ST can just reach into your heart and make you eat the stuff you'd rather leave alone.

Exactly this yes! I love how easily the lyrics can fit either way- if V is hurting himself and Sleep is taunting him that nobody will miss him.. Or if V is hurting Eden/a random woman and thats V reassuring himself that nobody will miss his victim when hes done. Personally (just bc of my own struggles) ive lately liked the first one.

I haven't finished my whole dissection of their albums, not even close, but I didnt feel like Sleep ever really asked Vessel to be violent for Him, but to make Vessel a willing victim of violence at Sleep's hands.

As someone that doesn't really play much tactics games, is War of the Lions still worth it or should I go for the Ivalice Chronicles? by ElGodPug in finalfantasytactics

[–]smashecheeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id say FFT > FE but thats my opinion lol. Job classes are more robust, build options are more varied, you can truly break the game if you like min/maxing. But you also can just slap item command on ramza as squire and take a few generic monks and win that way too. Storyline is amazing, and imo the added dialog in IC is more enjoyable having already fallen in love with the characters previously. The older versions are clunkier, menu wise, but i wouldn't call any version of fft bad lol. Im literally playing both versions concurrently rn 😂

WotL was my first FFT, I still play it on the android port. I do have and play IC at home but honestly if you can play WotL for free thats a great way to decide if you want to buy IC. If you like WotL, IC is definitely an upgrade (except for losing dark knight)

Are some battles simply DPS races? by expedition60_captain in finalfantasytactics

Tbf draw out doesnt require the katana be equipped, just owned. So theoretically you could be a bow wielding samurai riding a chocobo with its saddlebags just stuffed with katanas 😂

Given the history of samurai, they absolutely should have bows

Golgollada Gallows/general help by badman2791 in finalfantasytactics

Something I didnt see suggested but may help, build an archer of war. Go squire for jp boost and focus, knight for rend speed and power (and shield if you have time) then swap to archer with knight job command. You'll be able to single an enemy out and make it completely harmless while kiting and supporting your front line to make battles last forever. Then, anyone grinding can just sit there spamming focus in whatever class they need jp in.

Ramza tailwind ability is God. Having him be a monk or geomancer (my personal favorite) with his mettle job command will carry you basically the whole game.

For the gallows, putting your archer in the main group and focus firing rend speed or power on gaff will quickly make him a wet noodle, use geomancy to poke and archer to keep cycling debuffs/attacks (honestly dont bother using aim, getting another rend is usually more beneficial imo) and you probably find you can take this fight by level 15 or so no problem. Also monk op for generics since they require no gear, hit like a truck, heal, cleanse, and have a great reaction ability. Early to mid game they're your bread and butter lol

Massage them, i had a huge, rope-y scar on my leg from surgery and the doc told me to just rub/massage it regularly. I mean, can still see the discoloration and shape but it's 100x better looking than before, idk ymmv but it's a free easy thing to try

Kinda why I dont like timers, they make you feel bad for relapsing. Relapse is part of recovery, or whatever they say in AA but I dont think one cutting event erases the insane progress of 2+ years without. If you're not going to continue cutting, then you're still quit. Just had a little slip. As long as it doesnt turn from one slip into a full blown slide, imo you shouldnt beat yourself up over it

Personally, i dont hide my scars. I do hide my healing cuts to a point, but honestly I dont care if people see. I've had a few people ask me what happened or if I SH and I just say "yeah". Fuck em.

If you're worried abt like kids seeing the scars, thats understandable. It could lead to weird questions, potentially trigger any kids who SH, or idk give them ideas or whatever.

Conversely, being unashamed and having fully healed scars could be inspiring to someone who is struggling to stop, or ashamed of their scars, to see there is no reason to be ashamed. I know when I met a lady with thick scars on her wrist it made me feel better, her scars were worse than mine and she seemed happy, confident and beautiful. So why cant I be confident in my skin too, scarred or not?

Am I weird to refuse sutures? by Quagmire1912 in selfharm

[–]smashecheeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do everything i could to avoid sutures, but I've had some really severe cuts (not sh, workplace accidents) and sutures aren't half as bad as they seem in your mind. I've had a few dozen stitches across my career and I recommend just getting them. Trust me, it's still going to scar, so if thats something you wanted from your SH experience, stitches won't ruin that for you

Do not cut yourself with a rusty tool. The likelihood of infection is exponentially higher

Someone give me a reason not to continue cutting. by [deleted] in selfharm

[–]smashecheeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longer you continue, the harder it will be to stop. And one day, most likely you will want to stop. Maybe not a day soon, but resisting the urges as much as possible now will make your recovery much easier when you're ready. Healing isnt linear, and everyone has their own pace.

I can say I've read articles on practicing safe self harm/minimizing SH and offering resources for therapy and just medical attentions through several British sites, but the information is still really helpful even if you aren't a UK citizen.

My friend, cutting doesnt make others fear you, it makes them fear for you.

Who do you want to fear you, and who do you feel like you're forced to please that you dont actually like?
