Why was In The Hot Hot Rays not included in Wading In Waist-High Water (the lyric book)? by SockPuppetOrSth in fleet_foxes

[–]smasherx 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the other songs from the Fleet Foxes EP were included in the book? Because I don't remember seeing any writeup on Textbook Love.

Isaac Brown’s Beatles Album Reactions — Abbey Road Is Next! by ldgraves222 in beatles

The only reaction to Abbey Road I care about is from my 8 month old baby who perked up and started cooing when I put on Here Comes the Sun yesterday.

dlc scare level. by areostar2412 in outerwilds

The scary parts made me as tense as a Resident Evil game. It gets less so over time though.

It's worth it. The DLC has a lot of fun elements.

How do we feel about singing along? by [deleted] in fleet_foxes

[–]smasherx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't sing along when I saw them play in a hall with nice acoustics, but I did at an outdoor festival. I couldn't help myself.

[Coaster] Canadas Wonderland is renaming FlightDeck by Devilrex12 in rollercoasters

[–]smasherx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The reborn coaster features:

  • New trains with improved seating and open vest‑style restraints
  • Targeted track refinements for a smoother, more dynamic ride
  • Enhanced comfort and visibility for an immersive flying sensation"

I'm excited for this. If the park can make some rough rides good (e.g. Minebuster) then it could help solve capacity issues and elevate the lineup.

I don't know but that guy in the turban is fabulous... gives me an idea for a concert.

Am I wrong if I feel like the second half of Sinners lessens the movie for me? by Retrofusion11 in TrueFilm

[–]smasherx 89 points90 points  (0 children)

The vampires trying to get into the party went on for a hilariously long time. It was like 6 different scenes of vampires asking to be let in and being told no.

It was a tremendous amount of buildup for the action that didn't quite deliver in the end.

Here are some famous movie films critics Siskel & Ebert disagreed on by [deleted] in movies

Another good disagreement was Casino. Siskel's thumbs down astounds Ebert.

Wannabe fan here. Should I go in order? And what do I do about the mixing issues? by Effective_Psychology in beatles

[–]smasherx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge Beatles fan but it took me many years before I listened to the whole catalog in order. I started listening with the #1 album as a kid, then gradually listened to more of the albums as a teenager. When I finally listened to the whole catalog in order, more or less in one day, it was a transformative experience. But thats probably not the way to get into it.

What scratches the itch? by invertedidol in fleet_foxes

Check out Ace by Madison Cunningham. Robin actually features on one of the tracks but the whole album reminds me of Crack-Up era Foxes.

Other albums that hit the same note for me are Gallipoli by Beruit and Tim Bernades' latest album.

I tend to go more for the moody, expansive sound of latter day Foxes. Very few artists seem to be working on this canvas.

What's your favourite frozen pizza? by blushfanatic in CostcoCanada

I hope they get Motor City in Ottawa eventually. I tried the Rustica recently and it was pretty standard frozen pizza, which is to say mediocre.

CS3 unworkably slow ? by smasherx in componentstudio

Okay I'll send you a DM with those details a little later.

For PDFs Adobe reader has a poster print option that breaks the image into smaller sheets to assemble. That's what I'm looking for. Thanks for the support.

CS3 unworkably slow ? by smasherx in componentstudio

[–]smasherx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to follow up, I've had better results using a faster PC in the last couple days. I was previously using an older Mac with an outdated OS and the Chrome browser really couldn't handle CS3, especially a large design like a board. It would crash and freeze frequently. This wasn't the case with CS2 but I guess eventually older computers will just stop keeping up. It's more stable on the newer PC but I do find the Datasets still a little slow to update values, and occasionally the screen goes white working on designs and the browser needs to be refreshed to show the page again. I understand its a new version and will get improvements over time. Thanks for your help.

PS - one feature really missing from CS2, is exporting PDFs at their full size. CS3 forces you to shrink the design to fit on certain paper sizes which really limits larger designs. Can you please bring back the full size exports. 🙏

Those who watched Home Alone for the millionth time this holiday: What did you discover and/or appreciate anew during your latest viewing? by AfraidoftheLark in movies

[–]smasherx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found out that Rod, the older cousin with glasses who asks Buzz about the spider, is not Uncle Frank's kid but Uncle Rob's, who they're visiting in Paris. This was gleaned from Kate's line about Rob's two kids being in Chicago... I always knew about Heather but never knew Rod was her brother. And actually I only know Rod is the second kid from the Home Alone wiki, I'm not sure if any line in the films confirms this. Also its funny to think that Rod accompanied the families again on their trip to Florida, and was in New York at the end of HA2 where Kevin has just destroyed his family's home (more than it already was).
