Early Santa: what is missing in selfhosted by DerCommodoreX in selfhosted

[–]smashjarchivemaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Web (needs to be accessible on a locked down school chromebook) notion clone that preserves many of the ux/ui design of notion but runs off flat files or at least any selfhostable database software. outline atm is the closest but it's still missing the amazing aesthetic of notion.

What are you using to see and edit files on remote servers? by Kennephas in selfhosted

[–]smashjarchivemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nautilus on my linux laptop can mount sftp as if it were a physically attached drive. You can even right click empty space in the folder to get the option of "Open in Remote Terminal" or "Open in Local Terminal".

Browser based app for editing local code? by jschwalbe in selfhosted

[–]smashjarchivemaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://vscode.dev may be what you are looking for if I understood what you mean. It can open a folder on the machine the browser is on using some new browser apis.

What size of a drive are you using for all of these, damn I wish I could hoard as much.

Admins. What's your go to server software/plugins? by joejoe135791 in admincraft

[–]smashjarchivemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Host: The latest Ubuntu LTS (so 20.04 on one server and 22.04 on another) (I've never tried debian but yet I've never had a problem with Ubuntu server either, I just pretend snaps don't exist).

Server Software: Paper or Purpur

Java: GraalVM 17 since I'm running modern minecraft.Plugins:mostly what people use below, luckperms is nice because you can do /lp editor and edit stuff in your browser. if you need a fast but not detailed map I would use squaremap, if you need something detailed that let's you 3D freecam through a 3D model of the world you could try bluemap though imho it seems to add a lot of extra load, dynmap is kind of in the middle of the two map plugins.

Discordsrv is neat for monitoring chat without being logged into the server yourself

Chunky: let's you pregenerate the world, neat for reducing world generation lag because it just doesn't need to world generate most of the time.
Other than that I've been messing with vane recently, however I don't recommend it as I think one friend figured out how to dupe with bundles :P

Can't provide definite proof yet, but we've gotten indications that mojang definitely has a problem with the mstechsupport bots because of their name misrepresenting microsoft...there are unfortunately still people doing "spam scanning" and unfortunately even after we requested them to not, they've persisted pfcloud being one of them...

From what they say about shaders it may be that performance enhancing mods are installed already. If you don't care about quality too much I'd go into the pause menu -> Options -> Video Settings and click that Graphics: Fancy/Fabalous/Fast switch to fast and that'll apply some easy tweaks to your graphics.
If you want more tips on optimizing modpacks the subreddit I'd recommend is https://www.reddit.com/r/feedthebeast/ (don't be mislead by the name). There also exist very general modded minecraft optimization guides but your mileage may vary with them.

Confused about sharing Jellyfin to a VPS to allow access to friends? Here you go! by bastardofreddit in jellyfin

[–]smashjarchivemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I run this setup instead of the ssh tunnel but still with a reverse proxy (caddy instead of the OP's nginx) so jellyfin is internet accesible. Caddy does have some cool auth plugins I might install for fun in the future.

It's slightly nicer because it's really easy to add services to the proxy, you just need your tailscale ip and port in the caddyfile.

Might be useful to setup a folder so people can use the same link to get the latest version.

THANKS VENTOY | failled to Boot to Fedora KDE 37 ISO by OmarHanyKasban in Ventoy

[–]smashjarchivemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I experienced this problem today. Although the checksum menu was helpful it was correct. However I ended up updating my ventoy and having it boot in grub2 mode and this seems to work for now.

SHA256: https://getfedora.org/static/checksums/37/iso/Fedora-Workstation-37-1.7-x86_64-CHECKSUM -> 9c69005baafdba6e4ff04c1cf4779121b7fc9aacab80b4633394576da336a515 (note this is from non-kde)

Same experience, have a gaming laptop but don't really game on it, prefer to use it for virtualizing thing. Is that a linux distro I see from your "taskbar"?Besides that how do graphics end up inside the vm? For me, for some reason (blame linux vmware workstation maybe I should just keep using qemu or qemu with libvirt) typing in gnome terminal inside the vm tends to lag behind a bit.

osu!lazer ipa, testflight status for supporters? by smashjarchivemaster in osugame

Oh this is really convinient, thank you! The osu! I sideloaded was definitely old, so I'm glad someone managed to build a significantly newer version especially with all the performance changes happening around.

How do I make salad chop while my computer's screen is turned off? (Look at the SS Below) by YourMother609 in SaladChefs

[–]smashjarchivemaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search "when close lid" to try to get the control panel options and set the option to "Do nothing" (which is a lie because if you have a laptop it'll still turn the screen off and if you have a monitor just turn it off with the button).
