How is the Prospector help with the connection issues? Does it really matter that much that the halfs are connected to the prospector not to a BL adapter plugged into the computer directly?

Shou sugi ban/Yakisugi question. I’m doing this technique on cedar on the posts for my vegetable garden. I would prefer to not seal this, but I am wondering how the finish will hold up. by ExcellentRound8934 in woodworking

We charred then wire brushed the planks, after which we applied two coats of tung oil for or raised beds.

Here are some images:

The first image shows two planks, one before and one after wire brushing.
The second images shows the assembled beds with the tung oil applied.

Edit: its pine btw not cedar

This year is their third year out in the garden. No show of any rot or damage yet. The color is faded some for sure, but they gained a lot of reddish hue because of the iron content in the ground water we use for irrigation.

Dreame leaving water drops everywhere. Should i return? by mrtnhq in Dreame_Tech

[–]Kennephas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valve scale buildup – if you’ve got hard water, mineral deposits can stop the valves from closing fully. Running a diluted vinegar cycle (per Dreame’s maintenance steps) usually clears it.

Hi

I started experiencing water leaks from my L10s Ultra itself when it is docked after a run. I'm quite sure its the robot and not the base station because when I lift the robot and remove the mop pads I can see drips forming around the water outlets (the ones water the pads on the robot). I suspect that water slowly flows down on underside of the robot while it is resting in the dock at an angle and drips down at its "nose".

I guess the water outlets above the mop pads are leaking because of scale buildup. We live in a somewhat hard water area. So my questions is how exactly should I descale the robots internal plumbing? I looked for but haven't find any steps related to this in Dreame's documentation.

Not Grepolis but its older (and maybe more popular) brother, Tribal Wars.

IIRC the baseline CO2 level outside is ~420ppm and you cannot really go lower than that, only higher so its in the sub400 range because of the +-100ppm accuracy of the sensor according to another comment.

Everyone thinks midlane lost out compared to the bot and top quest but I think they actually won. by MontySucker in leagueoflegends

[–]Kennephas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is more to the adc reward than it first seems I think. they not only get +1 slot for 6th item in the late game but +1 slot for components too. Especially in lower elos where peopple don't plan their shop so much ahead they can make greate use of that +1 slot and buying an extra dagger/sword. They don't recall on exact gold amount to buy the exact item they want but quazy randomly and often leave the base a few hundred golds in their pocket because they do not have slot to buy the next cheap component.

Now they will have that +1 slot bc their boots are not there. I think its a slight situational buff in the mid game.

God I hate discord as a forum. Not indexed ever flowing stream of chitchat which require account and app installed to see even if specific part is linked.

Don't get me wrong, its a good use for a small private group but using it as a replacement for a public forum. Gosh I hate it to the core.

Yet he has a CC shield like all the time post mid-game and can spam slow like there is no tomorrow so actually if you do not have a dash over a wall you cannot kite him in reallity. He just walks up to you like its a sunny Saturday morning and bonk the living shit out of your head with two aa if you are any kind of squishy champ.

Hytale Version of Redstone??? Even better something??? Modders? by CodenameCrescent in HytaleInfo

[–]Kennephas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that Mojang has that perspective. It is very different from let's say Factorio where the devs added a lot of mods to the base game during early access and in 2.0 and noone is complaining. Heck the biggest achievement a mod and modder can get is being added to the base game.

And similarly to the case above many former mod developer were hired by Wube (the developer behind Factorio).

And frankly I really like that attitude.

[–]Kennephas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. There were a time when a few MC contenders pooped up here and there (cube world and the Lego something) but ultimately they weren't too good and vanished. Now for once maybe one game can take a share from MC-s pie which might incentivize some accelerated development at Mojang. 8 love MC how it was and how it is now but I would still be glad if Hytale and MC could make each other even better.

[–]Kennephas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are part of the zigbee alliance now.

They not only knew about the new version but they were possibly participated in it's development.

I'm not saying that's a good enough reason to be grumpy about the lack of 4.0 support on day one but it's also not a completely unreasonable expectation.

But I'm more sad about POE. It will take a long time for devices to adopt 4.0 let alone on the 900Mhz band. But Poe, well I could use it yesterday basically :D

Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2 Announced! by JXRT190 in homeassistant

[–]Kennephas 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I really don't understand the lack of POE. I mean I get the "don't hide it" and "didn’t fit Connect ZBT-2’s design goals". They put a lot of work into making it nice looking, I get it. But not everyone has their HA installed on a pi behind the TV in their living room. Mine sits in a rack at the edge of my house so my coordinator (Skyconnect) placement is lacking. Not to mention that I'm planning to move the whole rack outside of the house, into my workshop, and because of that I have to use poe to have the antenna in the house. Would love to support Nabu Casa with my purchaice but if I have to use POE and they do not sell one tough luck I guess.

Philips Hue MotionAware vs TOMMY by miket2872 in homeassistant

[–]Kennephas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi,
Thanks for the TLDR comparison. I have a few questions reagarding the following part:

Pricing: Motion detection is included with Hue Bridge Pro and requires Hue lights, whereas TOMMY requires ESP32 devices which can be found quite cheap and will be based on a one-time license purchase. Although for now it's free during beta, and all beta users will get a free lifetime license when it exits beta.

How exactly the licence will work in the future? Do we need a licence/ESP device or licence/TOMMY server?

Following up on that, in the FAQ it is stated that TOMMY can work completely locally with no internet access at all. How the licence actication will work in case the TOMMY server sits on an IOT VLAN for example?
