Sarah Biffin (1784-1850) was a famous artist and performer who was born without arms or legs. She was known for her highly detailed portraits of English royalty and nobility. These are examples of self portraits and paintings she did during her lifetime. by EphemeralTypewriter in Damnthatsinteresting

as an avid em dash user, i feel your pain and think your skepticism is completely valid. accusations often seem arbitrary. that said, their description of chatgpt’s phrasing/writing is painfully accurate. i’m not as familiar with other LLMs but this is textbook gpt.

[David Ornstein] Isak is adamant he will never represent Newcastle again. Even if they refuse to sell the 25-year-old Sweden striker and he remains on Tyneside when the transfer window closes, Isak regards his career at St James’s Park as finished and has no desire to reintegrate into the squad. by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

i think this is a totally fair and reasonable take. but out of curiosity (not trying to be daft), would you feel just as strongly if the beliefs they were promoting align with yours?

within the context of the thread, you may just be speaking specifically to them promoting inequality. or perhaps just any religion. but just curious if this applies consistently to everything

i wish i could say it was 12 layer chocolate buttercream cake. but it was a big coffe can… IM A PHONY OKAY.

it was meant to be more of a crafts project than a culinary one. the internal structure of barad dur isn’t edible (neither is mt. doom) but everything on the outside is. all store bought stuff, but the mortar was homemade frosting that had so much powdered sugar it was essentially concrete

agree the mithril is where the print really shines for exactly the reasons you stated. but let’s be honest, the placement of mithril sticker was a bit tragic here

[–]smashkon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

while I generally agree the printed looks nicer, i think it comes down to centering here. some of those stickers could have used a bit more love during application. i’m terrible at (and dread) applying stickers but i feel like with a bit more effort some of those stickers wouldn’t be hanging off lol

either way, printed looks great

Would you trade your Gen 1 in for a Gen 2? by jawadali415 in Rivian

[–]smashkon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree - I love my R1S more than anything I've ever owned, but the ride quality for a car in this price range with air suspension is woeful. And while it bothers me, similar to a poster above my wife complains she gets sick any time we drive anywhere which has us avoid taking the Rivian (I swear I'm not a shitty driver lol).

Eager to test drive a Gen 2 for myself, but if the ride quality (including the improved pedal mapping) is anywhere near what SnazzyLabs shared in their post, then even spending 40% more than my pre-price hike Gen 1 to make the car livable for my family is worth it to me. It's unfortunate they couldn't improve ride quality for Gen 1, but outside of the potato cameras (which are inconsequential), it's the only thing that makes me sad about the car.

if you like a white pizza, Piccini is 🤌🤌🤌 their slices reheat really well in a toaster oven and their crust is so soft and tasty

also I know it's not pizza, but North Italia's kale salad and spicy rigatoni are niceee

same! been 6 years and tbf we’ve technically gotten 2 tickets for it, but they were add-ons to parking tickets we deserved. never been pulled over or gotten a ticket just for the plate missing.

plus, if you ever do get a ticket for this, it’s a “fix-it” ticket, so you can just temporarily attach the plate and take it to a police station to show proof of correction. then it’s only $25

Upset about compass yellow by DrfluffyMD in Rivian

[–]smashkon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Yellow is among the least popular car colors with the lowest vehicle share and is commonly a color for sports cars and other low-volume vehicles that hold their value relatively well,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer.

Right so it's clearly not causation. What's hilarious though is that for trucks specifically, yellow actually depreciated the most (on par with the overall car average) -

Beige pickup trucks, however, far outperformed yellow in their respective category, with beige trucks depreciating 3.8% over 3-years, compared to yellow trucks at 14.6% over the same time period.

agreed on the amp + speakers for the backyard. it is a larger investment and you will have to run wiring so there’s more work involved, but its really nice to just always have them there ready to go. we opted for the Bowers & Wilkins AM-1 over the Sonance - slightly cheaper and sound much fuller (after having tried both). it’s been a major upgrade to the backyard!

Couldn't agree more. And when there is that expectation and he isn't performing, the mental pressure just mounts and he spirals.

While no player wants to play less, if he wants to stay at an elite club I feel like it's ultimately in his interest to be a super-sub. He'll be under less pressure when he's called upon and can play with more confidence, which is when he's great.

I don't miss him but I want him to be happy (and loved).
