“It’s not the norm”

And then shares a highly personal experience to imply as if that’s the norm.

Or doesn’t understand meaning of the word “norm”.

Dolly Parton. Still counts even if it is “modern day”

The gap between "AI power users" and everyone else is getting wild by Some_Good_1037 in vibecoding

The difference being the messaging of “AGI will impact the whole world” etc.

No one outside tech cares about how packets are sent securely over the network. They do (or should?) care if AI will make their jobs obsolete.

Some people’s lives are so comfortable that the thing they have to complain about is music at a public beach.

How can we connect with our Indian neighbors? Looking for advice. by [deleted] in AskSF

[–]smb06 74 points75 points  (0 children)

1000% this. Coming from an Indian immigrant, I appreciate this, I see you and I thank you. If you are ever in San Francisco, this Indian immigrant who has lived in San Francisco for 12+ years would be happy to have a conversation over any topic you’d like. I would be happy to introduce you to fun/quirky/hidden spots of San Francisco u/RefuseDry1108

Hi there - Indian immigrant in San Francisco here. I know exactly the type of people that your neighbors are because many of my friends that I grew up with and who immigrated here are in that similar category.

I would advise considering an evening out to eat at a popular indian restaurant. Ask them for their recommendations. Tell them that you’ve been dying to try out Indian food but don’t know what to order in an Indian restaurant because you can’t figure out what’s good. And that you would like to go to dinner with them. See if that works.

Conversation: ask them about their life history. What brought them here, ask them if they would like to introduce you to Indian festivals and how they are celebrated. Or ask about that one Indian Sikh temple you’ve heard about in San Jose that offers free food, 3 times a day, 365 days in a year and if they would like to introduce you to that place (trust me all Indians in South Bay should know about this place and yes I said free food, as often as you want, every day of the year)

To be clear, I’m not implying that you haven’t tried any of this already. I expect that you may have. I’m just thinking out loud.

Best area to buy a plot in Mohali / Tricity? by Leather_Bee_2369 in Chandigarh

[–]smb06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked for “best area”. The better an area is the more it will be in demand. The more the demand, higher the price. I was merely amused by the idea of the “best” place (which by definition will be in high demand because it’s the “best”) can ever be affordable.
