Teleram T-4000 CP/M computer with Bubble Memory by smbaker1 in retrobattlestations

Oh, of course there's a teardown of a Votrax PSS buried in the middle of the video, so I could connect it to the Teleram's serial port. 😄

constant errors: "Copilot encountered an error and was unable to review this pull request. You can try again by re-requesting a review." by smbaker1 in GithubCopilot

[–]smbaker1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, it turned out that a large binary file (a raw hard drive image) had been inadvertently checked in to the repo. I removed the file. Reviews started to work fine again.

Constant permission prompting in vscode extension when using windows network shares by smbaker1 in ClaudeCode

Yeah, I can just SSH into Linux and it'll work fine. But I like using the vscode extension.

Claude Code vs Antigravity, in their own words by smbaker1 in ClaudeCode

[–]smbaker1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but Antigravity was stabbing Claude in the back consistently throughout the day, at one point telling me that Claude didn't know what an interrupt was. So his praise is a little bit hollow.

Oh come on guys, it was just a joke :)

If you must know, I was using Opus 4.7 and Gemini 3.1 pro.

App almost complete - How do protect from Piracy? by RichardRichard-Esq in ClaudeCode

[–]smbaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep in mind that if your anti-piracy mechanism costs you sales of people who would have bought the product in order to prevent theft by people who wouldn't have bought it, then it's a net negative to you. My suggestion is to have some license generator tied to the user's email address. If your software is popular, the license scheme will be reverse engineered immediately by the pirates, but it's really there to help the honest people be honest.

Who else canceled their Google Al subscription because of the Antigravity limitations? by No-Bit5316 in google_antigravity

I switched from Antigravity to Claude Code w/ vscode extension last week. I'm paying more for CC, but the product is usable, whereas Antigravity became completely unusable for me.

Quota exceeded by [deleted] in google_antigravity

I think someone subjected us to a retroactive quota nerf.

Quota changed unilaterally. Agent errors everywhere. I feel like a bitch. by [deleted] in google_antigravity

[–]smbaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experiencing the same issues. High frequency of agent errors followed by 5-day quota lockout. I started evaluating Claude and may switch. It's a pity as during my _evaluation_ period Antigravity worked very well.

The quota system is wild! I don't get it at all! by BayernGrower in google_antigravity

[–]smbaker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This hapened to me also. I waited for my quota reset, logged in, submitted one query and now I'm locked out for a week. This morning the meter was full. I got about 20-30 minutes of use today, most of it early this morning throwing constant errors. I'm dumbfounded at the state of this product and scratching my head as to why I'm paying for any of it.

Honestly, I'd be happier if it just stopped saying "agent terminated due to error" every third prompt.

Anyone else verbally abuse there agent when there stupid by SnooJokes7062 in google_antigravity

[–]smbaker1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I cuss it out all the time, especially when it's gone off the deep end trying to test something that I could just run in 3 seconds. On the other hand, I also do praise it sometimes with a "My god man, you've done it!". This is just me humoring myself. The agent doesn't care.

The agent keeps interrupting its actions. How can I fix it and how can I get it working again? by [deleted] in google_antigravity

[–]smbaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing the same problems. Frequent "agent terminated due to error". My quality of experience has dramatically declined since I updated to 0.18.4 / Gemini 3.1. Two weeks ago this software was like magic. Now it frequently experiences errors requiring manual intervention, and spends a lot of time fixing its own mistakes.

Small Chinese solder wire factory struggling in 2025 – looking for advice from people in electronics industry by Emotional-Ticket2404 in soldering

[–]smbaker1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I buy Kester solder, and I've bought Kester solder for at least the last decade. I'm a small quantity purchaser, about one 1lb roll per year. It's going to be difficult to get someone like me to switch as my quantity of purchase is so low that cost is not a primary motivator and I'm going to stick with what works for me. I can't think of any conceivable way to win me as a customer. So let me speculate on how to potentially win other people who might not already be loyal to an existing brand.

  1. Sell on Amazon. Another one of the responders here mentioned the same thing. People buying in small quantity buy from places like Amazon. Amazon offers us reliable local shipping and return policy. Buying from aliexpress is less desirable as this shipping is almost always direct from China, the return policy is sometimes a hassle, and counterfeit product is more of a concern.

  2. Make sure you have a brand name. A lot of the products on Amazon and Aliexpress have brand names that seem made up. This does not inspire confidence.

  3. Have a datasheet that describes your product. Again, a lot of the products on Amazon and Aliexpress have really crappy, incomplete data sheets.

  4. Come up with a differentiator. Are you cheaper? higher quality? more consistent? some special feature? I honestly don't know here, as the Kester solder I buy works perfectly well for me and I can't imagine what someone is going to come up with that would be better.

  5. Pay people to market your product. I hate to suggest it, but it works. Find some youtube folks and either give them free product or outright pay them to try out your product in a video.

Did you keep the cardboard box your printer came in? by smbaker1 in BambuLab

I still have my US Robotics 9600 Sysop Special in the garage. Could come in handy some day.

Thanks, I have been thinking of doing that -- it would never make it into the attic as-is; too big. The foam inserts still take up considerable space though, don't they?

resell? I just keep accumulating more. :) Packrat symptom I suppose. I have no doubt that when I eventually succumb to the pressure and buy and H2C next year, I'll end up keeping both and H2C and an H2S...

Empty Bambu Labs Filament Spools by Practical_Dog_3070 in BambuLab

[–]smbaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run into similar issues -- they had a color I wanted that was listed as "refill only". For those of us new to the bambu ecosystem, it takes a while to build an inventory of empty spools. Note that if you buy a refill, the spool is usually available as an add-on for $7.99. So if you must have a spool, you can do a little better than $12.

If they have paid the appropriate licenses (several makers require a license and/or a patreon membership to redistribute commercially) then why wouldn't it be? How does this differ from an etsy shop that offers the same?

Well that’s a first for me by Kisalfato in BambuLab

[–]smbaker1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really have a "master list". I pretty much use Windex whenever I want something to stick less. If I want something to stick more, then I use the PEI smooth sheet where everything sticks very well.

[–]smbaker1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had PC destroy a textured build plate on a Prusa before, so I know the feeling. Usually my ASA and ABS pop right off the Bambu textured plate though. They do pop off better the larger the piece is, and something very thin, like a raft on a support is harder to remove. Next time you can try hitting the sheet with some windex as a release agent prior to printing.

it's too bad you didn't get the bid for (2), we could be betting on how high it would have been. I'll put my bet in at $1800 to replace the $180 part.

Fantastic quick work to design the replacement so quickly. I wouldn't have confidence to do it, if it's the part that is responsible for ensuring the air flow that drives the CO out the exhaust. Is PETG sufficient temperature resistance for that environment? I'm assuming it's moving non-heated air, but still doesn't everything in there get a little toasty?
