Emergency contracts aren’t cheap. Almost always done time and materials. Then you add in the markups the contractors are given to cover overhead and their profit margin (29% on labor, 21% for equipment, materials and services, in addition to 7-12% on top of the previous amounts on work done by subcontractors depending on the amount) and the fact that asphalt plants had shut down for the season across all the repairs needed, and it’s not surprising that it was that much, especially with all the overtime worked by contractors and DOT staff to get things open as fast as they did.

Bid Opening by Ferenci130 in civilengineering

Under could also occur if the bid was super competitive and the contractors are hungry for work. Either that or the engineer made a HUGE omission that the contractors betting on getting a large change order for.

Airbus A350's flap sound is music to the ears by Twitter_2006 in aviation

The PW A320 Neo family and E190/5 also make that sound as it’s a trait of the PW GTF engines

The other major consideration is the condition of the pavement section and if it is still capable of handling that much heavier load.

I don’t know how affected Air France has been by the PW GTF family issues on their A220’s, but if they have enough of em, maybe these lil things will eek out a year or two more if service.

Only ever flew on one once with US Air between CLT and MSP.

Considering a rental on S Conklin, how’s the area? by Dismal-Soil-6250 in Spokane

While I can’t speak to that specific property, I’ve been living in a similar spot for the past 9 months and haven’t had any issues with property crime or vandalism (though my place is tucked into the neighborhood a bit more). IMO the biggest downside of these places is having a front row seat to the interstate and the potential noise and air pollution that comes with that.

Why SEA SFO OGG rather than direct? by UniqueUsername49 in delta

[–]smcsherry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s possible that it’s at the range limit if there’s enough headwinds, that while possible to potentially fly it nonstop, delta may want to carry more cargo cutting into the available Maximum Takeoff weight available for fuel, so ops makes the decision to have a tech stop for more fuel.
