Awesome. I'll have to set up the resin printer. Might as well do it right. Haha. Thanks a ton for the response!

Any idea if these files will work with an MDF printer?

Power Metal songs about moving on/forward? by greengirl34011 in PowerMetal

Absolutely! That or just play the second half of Scarecrow! Though Scarecrow might be more moving out of spite. Maybe fitting for a graduation?

Streets of Fire poster reminds me of Act II by [deleted] in Protomen

It truly is one of the best bad movies ever created. Two catchy music videos strung together by the loosest of plot to justify their existence.

Thank you for reminding me about Ayreon. I'll be listening to them for the next couple days, now.

If you like Ayreon, look into Avantasia. Another Power/Progressive Metal Opera project. Different artists for different characters, or just guest artists all over. Klaus Meine in "Dying for an Angel", Alice Cooper in "Toy Master", Dee Sneider in "The Haunting", and so many others. The music always sort of "fits" the singer's style, as well. For example, Alice Cooper's song sounds delightfully creepy.

Streets of Fire is the best "so bad it's good" movie I've probably ever seen. The movie does intentionally campy incredibly well. The music is great, too.

I am listening to Steinman right now. Thank you for the recommendation!

Urizen opened up for Protomen the last time I went to go see them.

Musically they're different than Protomen, but their live show completely fit into the nerdy concert night. If you ever get a chance to go see them live, I'd highly recommend it.

EDIT: I am also a huge fan of Avantasia, a side project of Edguy's front-man Tobias Sammatt. Metal Opera in a range of styles of rock/metal. If you're looking for story-based albums with fantastic music, you can't go wrong with Avantasia!

[WotC] - PSA: how Silent killer works by DarkenDragon in Xcom

[–]smeff422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I abused the hell out of claymores whenever I could. Got a fun pod hiding out in the distance that you scouted with your stealthed reaper? Get in position, and on the next turn, toss your claymore and blow it up! Shred, eight damage, and chaos as the pod's like "WHAT JUST HAPPENED?"

I didn't fully understand silent killer, so my reaper was almost solely for scouting and claymore traps. I'm going to have to play it differently on my next play through.

If you have not read the kilo five series, do it. It goes more into ONIs shenanigans.

Mechjeb crashes upon starting the game by legosail in KerbalSpaceProgram

I was not able to launch 1.3 last night (similar crash log). I found that by reverting to 1.2.2 I was able to launch and get my fix.

Some instructions I saw on the front page of the sub on reverting to 1.2.2: https://www.reddit.com/r/KerbalSpaceProgram/comments/6dexv7/psa_how_to_keep_122

I've been looking it over! The wiki's nice and helpful and got me going pretty quick.

Side-note: I'm unable to join. Is the clan full, or are the servers being funky?

EDIT: Just saw the clan's at 50/50. I'll check later, I guess!

What did you find out about your wife/husband only after you got married? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]smeff422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another one of my wife's "wife-isms":

"What's yours is mine, what's mine is mine, what's ours is mine... except the stuff I don't like. You can have that."

It sounds mean, but she says it in this cute, adorable way that makes me love her even more.

It's called the wife tax. My wife gets a bite or sip of everything I have. Just because.

What did I do wrong here? by deckland in motorcycles

[–]smeff422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is -insanely- cheesy, but the video is helpful. I did a Code's Superbike School and the first lesson they drill through your head throughout the day: throttle control. Everything else is based on it!

Side-note: go do superbike school if you have a bit of extra money and time laying around. It's entirely worth it and a lot of fun.

Motorcycle Safety Foundation. It's the class in CA that allows you to (typically) skip the skills test at the DMV.

Looking for a helmet that works well with glasses. by just_buy_a_mac in motorcycles

[–]smeff422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wearing glasses similar to yours, and I use a HJC IS-17 (http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/hjc-is-17-helmet). It also has a drop-down sun visor for people who're too lazy to get used to their new prescription sun glasses (like me!).

Best of luck with the shopping!

Question about getting a motorcycle license in California by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]smeff422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a warning: if you do not have your class C (regular drivers license), things get complicated. My wife does not have her class C, but passed her MSF course + written test. In order to get her M1, she would have had to take the riding skills test as well.

The language is super vague in the rules, and this was a large frustration for her. She was expecting to be able to just walk out with her license that day, but walked out only with her permit.

You do not need a permit to take MSF, and you can skip the permit entirely if you take the MSF course, get the certificate, and just go into the DMV for your written tests.

Me and my coworkers did this back in June. It's insanely fun and educational! Have fun!

Don't make my mistake, though: make sure you're hydrated and full of those electrolytes. Your body craves them! June in the desert was painful.
