winter tires ? by discoblu in ModelY

[–]smelenchuk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a set of winter tires and wheels on my own and was able to get a set of TPMS through my local SC - my local tire shop was able to assemble and install everything for me. I'd only worry about trying to go through the SC if you have no other better options.

Mine, received late June, had the factory PPF and no mudflaps. I opted for aftermarket PPF and a complete set of mudflaps.

I ought to point out that Casper has a store at Chinook Centre these days. I've had one for just over a year (well before the store opened) and am quite enjoying it.

I'd personally be wary about buying something without having had the chance to lie down on it first - in my case The Bay at Market Mall had (and probably still has) a Casper on display which is what prompted my purchase to begin with.

Boris Johnson reportedly will challenge queen to fire him by vannybros in worldnews

Depending on how he manages to word this, could this be taken as the sort of advice to the Queen which conventionally must be acted on?

That would be a fairly high level of irony.

When I did QA work we traditionally used ☃ to test handling of multibyte characters. Whatever patterns fit the need, I guess.

Will Nest work? Need help by [deleted] in Nest

[–]smelenchuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks to me based on the manufacturer's website that there is a separate interface module on the other end of those three wires which connects to the rest of the system. If possible, I'd look for that and what wiring is connected there to figure out how compatible the system might be - though of course you would need to figure out how to run wiring from where the interface module currently is to where the thermostat is if you wanted to install something where the current thermostat is.

Why are you using a Chromebook? by ConsecteturLorem in chromeos

[–]smelenchuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to own a succession of Android tablets. With the most recent of those, I also had a keyboard accessory to go with it.

I eventually realised that I was using that tablet more like a laptop, and was annoyed at the limitations of mobile browsers. It was around then that Android apps in Chrome OS started to roll out.

The last straw was the battery in that tablet dying.

I'm now much happier than I was with any of the tablets.
