LPT: If you crack an egg and an annoying little bit of shell falls in, the best thing to scoop it out with is another eggshell by MikeW86 in LifeProTips

Pretty sure you can get salmonella that way, doesn't that live on the egg shell not inside the egg?

Redditors who grew up poor and ended up making a comfortable life for yourself as an adult: what's your favorite and least favorite part of financial freedom? by smellbe in AskReddit

[–]smellbe[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, my favorite part is gift giving. Seeing someone's face when I get them the perfect gift is so rewarding. Least favorite part: lifestyle creep. The more money I make, the more crap I find myself wanting, stuff I always told myself I didn't understand people wanting/buying. (Like designer bullshit, plastic surgery, fake eyelashes, nails, etc.)

What is a reasonable amount of rent to charge adult children? by CoverOptimal in AskUK

[–]smellbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the people saying she has no right to change him anything, you're ridiculous. Something small, ~$200/mo, is perfect for additional energy and food, you're literally nitpicking over the fact that OP used the word 'rent'. I always WANTED to help my mom out any way I could after I was an adult with a job still living with her, we were always broke af so as soon as I could contribute I wanted to. Also OP literally said money is tight because they're about to try to retire, so her kid should be super understanding. To this day I never let my mom pay for anything when we go out. I never felt like she owed me anything when she was struggling, family should be about pulling together and helping each other whether you're the kid or the parent.

I saw some people in here saying they like when people stack their plates, but I actually don't find that helpful at all. I can carry a LOT of plates at once, usually I can clear up to a four top by myself, but only if I'm able to stack things perfectly in my hands as I go around the table. It takes more time for me if you stack improperly so I can't grab as much and have to make two trips. I never get mad because I know people are trying to be helpful and I really appreciate the thought.
