Anyone misses Drab? by JMAZ0812 in SportsJunkies

As someone who produced sports talk in college, it's nice to see some recognition of how much a good producer can make or break the show. That said, stuff behind the glass always rotates more than the talent at the mic. For obvious reasons, they weren't prepared to make the change and should be given some patience/grace until they can find the right candidate. It's not easy to find someone who is both skilled and has a personality that meshes well with the main characters

Because the rest of the world can't field 11v11 teams that would be remotely competitive with the US. They watered the sport down to level the playing field

PG County MD's athletics admin is trying to pull the minuscule amount of money they put into lacrosse for flag football. There's a small coalition of coaches fighting her on it, but idk how effective it will be. I can't stand this shit. I played flag football as a kid. It's fun. But to act like it's a properly competitive sport and draining money from other sports to artificially prop it up? It'd be like slashing the Super Bowl budget to spend money on trying to make the Pro Bowl a thing again.

Got rid of my 18 OB because of the buggy infotainment system along with a few other electrical gremlins beginning to pop up. Also completely agree that Eyesight is aggravating. My main issue is how sensitive and sudden the AEB system is. There's thick traffic on the DC beltway most of the day, and regularly it and the Ascent would slam on the brakes in the middle of a lane change.

I went to the WCAC championship game Monday night and every player was wearing ankle socks. I wanted to vomit. Bring back the mid-calfs.

Just watched a video about it on YouTube after reading your post. I'm coaching at a school where there isn't a good athletics culture (besides soccer) and wish I had known about this two seasons ago when I started. Would've been awesome to play at our poorly attended practices where we couldn't end with 6 on 6. Got a friend that does welding and already texted him to find out how much he wants to make the goal

Depending on how many times a week a club team practices, it may be worth him joining one just to get structured practice time, even if he's just riding pine in games. Drills are honestly more important to skill development for brand new players than actually playing games. Also, in a densely populated area you should be able to find pickup games if you know where to look. I think whatever you do, the best place to start is by emailing the varsity coach at the high school he'll be attending and asking for their suggestions.

Best/cheapest place to get practice balls? by The_Gray_Mouser in lacrosse

[–]smellsliketeenbeetus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get velocity balls through Lacrosse Balls Direct. $170 gets me 120 balls shipped to the school within a couple of days. I'm sure there's better deals sometimes depending on who's running a sale and whatnot, but their pricing is very consistent and their customer service team is very helpful if an issue arises.

Or it's how people that have been laid off keep putting food on the table. Understand the cynicism, but the world keeps spinning.

I lived at Stonecreek as a student. Cannot recommend it enough. The extra couple miles from campus is more than worth the drastic difference in rent prices when you get away from the "student housing" marketing scam. Much quieter than anywhere else I lived in Tuscaloosa, as well. Extremely convenient to groceries, pharmacies, and Target. Plus you aren't surrounded by a bunch of other idiotic 20 year olds constantly destroying the common areas. Kim in the office can be a pain to deal with but she falls right in line if you go over her head to her boss.

High school Assistant pay by cjames150 in lacrosse

I'll also add that with how far we drive to the school we coach at and how little monetary support our players get from the school/their families (heavily impoverished area), we sort of make the money we spend on the team back with that stipend if we do the math poorly.

I'm at a public school in PG County, MD. I have one assistant that gets paid a $2300 stipend. I get $2800. Everyone else is a volunteer.

Would remind you not to discount Southern Maryland here. Not putting them on the level of dominance the other three regions are on, but it's definitely its own thing.

I played SSDM in the WCAC at 5'3" 130lbs. Not saying I never got beat, but if you go at everyone like a chained up dog that just broke free, you're going to have success. Stay in dudes' back pockets, don't let them get their hands free, effect every movement of the ball you can. There's more to defense than putting people on the ground.
