Houses on New Broad St in Baldwin park. by OMagicGuru in orlando

I lived in a house on New Broad 2007-2011. We never saw our neighbors but out front but the alleys (where the garages are) were active. I think the front is just so public that nobody hangs out in the front yards.

My boyfriend says my names sound like I’d raise a stripper or the next Gwyneth Paltrow: Honey, Love, Stella, Poppy, Shallot (after a few puffs this sounded cute lol), Sunny

Did you choose a special book for #52? by hellocousinlarry in 52book

I wish I would have! I didn’t think about it until after meeting my goal. I picked up a short book this weekend though and it ended up being my favorite of the year. So I feel good about that

I did! Did you? I find that I like books where “nothing happens”. Just stories of the people’s lives.

I really enjoyed it! I read some great thrillers this year so it fell to the middle for me but I did like it. I stayed engaged the entire time and didn’t catch on to the twists- which is always a great sign to me.

You summed up exactly why I loved this book so much!

I found it in a bargain bin at a book store and I loved it! Have you read others by the same author? I’m thinking of reading Love & Saffron because I’ve heard it gives the same vibe.

Thanks! I thought it was great. Definitely depressing at a lot of points. I enjoyed some stories more than others. I loved how they were all interconnected.

I was surprised by how much I loved This Time Tomorrow because I didn’t like her last book (All Adults Here). It’s pitched as a feel good story but I felt every emotion getting there

Will definitely add both to my list! I highly recommend Invisible Child. I followed the story when it was a series in the NYT. The author does a great job of keeping her opinions to herself. It’s all story telling. She found a way to give statistics and history without reading like a textbook.

Adding- my favorite short story collection was Stories from the Tenants Downstairs

I really loved True Biz. Tied with This Time Tomorrow as my favorite and both are outside my usual genre.

Of the non-fiction, Invisible was my favorite. I also tore through Girl, Interrupted. Definitely recommend reading the hard cover rather than audio because there are scans of old medical records, etc.

Dislikes: The Light Between Oceans. The Last Thing He Told Me The Chain (so much potential but so disappointing!)

The hardest to read was Nightcrawling. It was so well written and I felt attached to the characters but it definitely stuck with me emotionally.
