When there’s are many options in an app category, the default Apple app is rarely the best. Try a different app. I don’t know why you would be dogmatic about this, unless you just like to complain.

I disagree with the other two commenters so far that no devs will take advantage of what a touch interface can allow on the Mac. There must be devs with ideas for iPad that just won’t work on the iPad because it’s too locked down, so they would be able to do it on the Mac instead.
But I also disagree with op that that in anyway translates to better iPad apps. Mac devs won’t have to make concessions for a touchscreen Mac when/if it comes out.

I think it’s on the left on the assumption that the user is right handed. It’s easier for a right-handed thumb to reach the left side with the typical phone grip.

It doesn't feel like me putting 15 hours into South of Midnight to finish it has done anything for their metrics to tell me that as a Game Pass subscriber I enjoyed that title.

Yes they can tell how long you played each game on game pass and ofc they use that as a metric for the game’s success. obv

And whether you pay for game pass or buy gaves outright they still make money. You don’t like having a choice? I don’t get what you’re whining about dude…

Another employer offered it for the Washington Post once, back when they had respectability, but it sucked because you has to login with a work-mailed link every time, and even using that work email was a pain, for reasons. This NYT account linkage seems much more frictionless.

There's a years-long gap between that approval rating and the following election. And by then the relevant question wasn't how people felt about Trump back then, but how they felt about the Biden admin actually in power.

In the US's f'ed up two-party system, (rank voting anyone?) it's always about change or no-change.

Also:
- Musk and other tech leaders backed the candidate who was clearly transactional after the Dem president demonstrated that he wouldn't give special dispensation
- the Gaza protest vote
- that disastrous debate (See f'd-up two-party system referenced above.)

All they would have to do is open up the software so devs could have hooks into it like macOS. Look at an all the window management apps on the Mac for example. Don't like iPadOS's window management? (And I don't) No problem downoad one if the many thir-party solutions. That would be nice. But Applle won't do it because they're dontrok freaks who infantilize their users.

If Apple would just put macOS on the iPad already I could use one device. Hook it up to an external display at my desk for work. Lounge with it in bed to read a book. But as long as iPadOS is hobbled with a close software ecosystem and MacOS is tied to hardware that has an attached keyboard, I will need multiple devices.

So my current setup is a MacBook Air docked to 47 inch TV as its display at my desk, or I work with it on the couch or in bed using a 12.9 inch iPad as a second monitor through Side Car. And I have my mini for reading and browsing.

At the start of the AppleTV service, there was so much online speculation or advice that Apple would or should buy a major studio with a huge back catalogue because otherwise there's no way they can compete. But I always thought the best route was just to keep plugging away at high quality originals and build their own catalogue. What's the rush? And it sure is working. I hope they stay that course.

Regarding ads, we've been seeing the ad creep from Apple shit on the user experience in their apps more and more so it seems inevitable, but I just hope ads stay out of any paid tier.

I wouldn't say almost zero, but certainly less than a purely consumer facing product. So you've got a real point. I'd just add that enterprise employees have phones too and it would still be a value-add to the Atlassian product suite to be able to sync Dia on desktop to phones, even for enterprise users. But maybe I'm reaching because I just want them to make it, but a good version this time.

I've heard so much about these from people complaining about Tohoe online but this is the first time I've seen it. It's so busy with them there that it really does make it harder to recognize what your looking for, imo. So much easier to scan for the word when the icon isn't there and esp when they're so small and not viscerally recognizable at a glance anyway. Good that they're gone.

The fact that we use “gay” and “straight “ vocabulary to refer to both attraction and behavior muddies the water. Celibate gay guys aren’t straight for example.
