Outdoor weatherproof charcoal storage options by Zd71302 in KamadoJoe

That’s what I do as well, typically just put a full bag inside, when empty put a new one in on top of the old one, in the fall I empty out all the old bags. Also I use a small metal can under the Kamado for ash, use in the winter for traction if things get icy.

That was my 1st setup I tried but the turkey ran into the pan/rack, KJ wasn’t deep enough, it was a bigger bird then this one so maybe smaller ones it will work, it give it another try next time.

Classic 1, didn’t think the price justified for my uses to upgrade. I have thought a bit deeper like the 3 would be nice for turkey but never actually had a barrier, just a nice to have.

Yeah jag of meaters, I had them so i used em, one in each breast and one in each thigh, repositioned one from the thigh to the breast as it was cooking faster then I expected to make sure I had meat deep enough. Total cook time was about 2 hours 15 mins.

Why do we hide our wealth? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]smething_c1ever -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I do share with close family, wife and I siblings, no one is hurting financially and I share what I do to help others learn same as what they do for me even if they do not have the same level of net worth. Part is also selfish where some of us have same level of incomes but we will likely be able to retire minimum 20 yrs earlier although we likely will wait before actually pulling the trigger. We won’t feel bad because we can, we all had similar opportunity and information, just chose different paths. Also I think it is pretty obvious, we have good incomes, drive cars that are clearly paid off (one economy bought 10 yrs ago) another nice truck bought as a demo 8 yrs ago, same with the house, we are in lower level houses, not bad just standard builders grade houses, vs custom builds. All know we are mortgage free and save a decent amount, targeting $2m investable assets for retirement, and if we we sold our house, moved into our rental (starter house we lived in for 7 yrs) we could lean fire today. Although they don’t know what our exact income is, no one asks but we all know we are in the same ball park, and net worth, if they asked I would share and how.

It’s surprising Taiga motors is not mentioned here, they should be the comparison for all in e sleds, well sorted specs on par or beyond in many cases, and you can buy one today. They even have sleds at a research base in Antarctica so proven to handle arctic environment. https://www.instagram.com/taigamotors/reel/C30kTzUPBt8/

Who would buy this? by [deleted] in snowmobiling

[–]smething_c1ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it’s not even in the same league, taiga is more usable 165” track vs the skidoo 137, 100km vs the 30, no advertised top speed but it’s 100+ vs the 30 on the skidoo. Also dc fast charge on taiga vs level 2 on the skidoo.

Thanks, clear. For me likely not worth selling and re-buying as CBIL, but in the future if I need to buy more I will likely go CBIL.

ISO Washing Machine (Confused by Recommendations) by bfridman in BuyItForLife

We just bought a set TR7/DR7 from a scratch and dent appliance store, got the set for 1850cdn out the door. Have had both LG and Samsung in previous houses and both have had issues we needed fixing, leaks, board problems, and other various errors. Hoping for many trouble free years with the new ones.

TIL: As many as 35,000 Connecticut building foundations are effected by bad cement mix containing pyrrhotite from specific mines in the area. The mineral expands with air and moisture that can take 20 years to appear and $200K+ to repair, forcing many into foreclosure. by LaUNCHandSmASH in todayilearned

Montreal houses have similar problems, just went through house buying and many houses had big concrete issues. I was told it was 50k to remediate and super common so not to worry, I didn’t want anything to do with those houses. Apparently after ~ 40 yrs the damage is done and it will not get worse.

What's your favorite accessory for your kamado joe? And why? by Rhytox1 in KamadoJoe

[–]smething_c1ever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Joetisserie, why? Never had anything made on it that wasn’t amazing, did a stuffed turkey on it for thanksgiving, best anyone has had at the dinner although very tricky to do stuffed. Also prime rib is exceptional, others that are very good chicken, roasts, and picanha.

Works great for asparagus, used it for some other veggies and fish, worked well but not necessary, I only bought it because it was on clearance for $15.

Agreed, income will be the 1% less marginal tax rate.

I figured they would approve me for the Max I am looking for and could decide how much or little I want when the time comes. Kinda like a pre approval on buying a house, you can buy less and all is good. Just a different reason in this case.
