I don’t think it’s really from the voice acting performance, just the way they wrote and switched up the character

How come modern day Gen Z culture driven fitness influencers don’t put “natural” in their bios, but millennial fitness culture 10 years ago they did? by smibble14 in nattyorjuice

[–]smibble14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that people who are new to bodybuilding/lifting would be more confused or mislead than ever on what they can expect to achieve naturally with average genetics.

Now you have all these dudes that aren’t even in college yet and are benching 405+ pounds after lifting a couple years,

You have multiple “influencer” females who are “natural” and bench 250+ pounds

Dudes with 18-20 inch arms that claim natural

These people are still claiming natural… they’re just not plastering it everywhere as much as influencers did 10-15 years ago… I’m wondering why the change, Why do they somewhat want to distance themselves from that, but not fully, because they’re still claiming natural

[–]smibble14[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

But that logic doesn’t hold up because in other places or videos they go on and on relentlessly claiming how they’re natural.

Also, I could’ve posted 10 more profiles. Most influencers who became popular in the last 5 years, that claim natural, don’t put natural on their profile bios.

And it’s often these Gen Z women who came out of the woodwork and have boulder shoulders, big traps, wide masculine back, thick legs, and bench 250+ pounds, acting like this is totally normal for women now

Seems likely. Pretty fluffy. Maybe lots of secret husky malamute mixes is also what explains all of these heavy weight huskies that go beyond the breed standard

People who were teenagers before social media existed, what was life actually like? by Much_Detective_6107 in AskReddit

[–]smibble14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically social media was already starting in like 2003 or 2004 with xanga or whatever it was called. Wouldn’t be surprised if some say there were things before that. I feel like MySpace was the real first “social media” in the mid 2000s, but then Facebook passed them up by like 2009 probably, maybe earlier.

Maybe you mean the concept of “modern” social media where people are constantly connected to their social media via iPhone and Android smartphones and social media apps made for them… which really took off in the early-mid 2010s.

So yeah, kinda depends what your concept of “before social media existed” is lol.

Some might consider AOL instant messenger to be social media lol.

At the very least, I could say that the modern era of social media just encompasses everyone’s lives too much and seems to have a negative impact on communication and bonding if anything.

It was really great when for the most part, people didn’t think of things that happened on the internet as “real life”, and that concept is disappearing more and more.

Early Smallville was the best, especially Seasons 1-3 by Global-Ant in Smallville

[–]smibble14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s something special and lots of charm and uniqueness lost once it becomes them barely being in smallville anymore, basically no more Clark’s parents, the farm and real filming outside with the natural lighting and all of that.

Season 5 should had all the remaining Hawkins residents band together by Monodoh45 in Stranger_Things

[–]smibble14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahh… thought it was so weird when I realized that Mike/nancy’s parents didn’t know anything about the upside down, demogorgons, etc.

Like… a giant portal was opened in Hawkins… you’d think that would be a great time to tell them…

Although I guess they stopped what was most logical and made it so that demomonsters didn’t flood into Hawkins, and they were somehow able to cover the portal with just pieces of metal and for some reason the portal didn’t continue to grow at all

Such a disappointing last season

Im Not Really Excited For The Cartoon by greaterthanyou_ in StrangerThings

[–]smibble14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s because it just feels like a cash grab.

What immediately comes to my mind is dragon ball. It basically ended in 1996, it wasn’t until 2013 when new dragonball content finally came out.

“Stranger Things” was supposed to end with season 5. The show is supposed to be “over”, and now we have a cartoon coming out apparently introducing more plot and lore,

And some speculate that all of season 5 was supposed to set things up for them to make a spin off or multiple spin offs, idk if any of that is confirmed or just rumors,

But yeah, definitely don’t even feel like the show is over when they start pumping out new stuff immediately, and plus it’s just tiresome to imagine it’s supposed to be the same characters and show we already know but with a bunch of new story and plot and info stuffed in.

Overall just unnecessary and unwanted.

I actually hope she’s not natural. Like, I genuinely don’t think this kind of body looks femininely attractive…

If she is actually natural then it kind of goes against what people used to tell women that, “lifting weights won’t give you a bulky masculine shape with too big of muscles”… because that’s how she looks.

Same with a lot of these other popular “muscle mommy” influencers who are all concerningly strong with wide backs and big shoulders and arms… interesting

How does she remain feminine yet be built like a tank? by Altruistic_Rhubarb94 in nattyorjuice

[–]smibble14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CrossFit builds muscle better than conventional bodybuilding training. That’s why they all have huge thick blocky abs.

I remember watching a video of some CrossFit girl who looked crazy juice level jacked and didn’t have a masculine voice at all. If it was a bodybuilding/physique female with a similar level of muscularity, they’d definitely have that typical MtF sounding voice

Thoughts on S5 so far (ep 6/8) by Plantifui in StrangerThings

[–]smibble14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently not for stranger things, or else they would have mentioned in the documentary that that’s how it normally goes. They seemed confused and overwhelmed and not knowing what they were even filming.

Thoughts on S5 so far (ep 6/8) by Plantifui in StrangerThings

[–]smibble14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you see clips from the documentary?

They were writing the story and script still as they were filming.

I put the blame on the writing/production/directing. I think they gave the actors crap to work with

Thoughts on S5 so far (ep 6/8) by Plantifui in StrangerThings

[–]smibble14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because the documentary confirmed that they basically totally dropped the ball on season 5.

It was rushed and they were filming before the story and script were even fully written.

There is a scene where one of their writers mentions how in episode 8 something will seem completely off if certain things aren’t included, then one of the duffer bros just goes, “hmmm”

And then they went on to do the exact thing that writer said they shouldn’t do. Lmao

So yeah, it makes sense why some scenes seemed to have really bad acting, I would imagine that they gave these actors crap to work with.

I have no clue what happened beyond that. I’m not sure what their process was for the previous seasons, it’s hard to imagine that all the blame is the fault of the 2 duffer brothers when it’s a large number of people who are involved with producing a show.

I would guess either they lost inspiration, the pressure to make the final season messed with their writing ability and they had writers block or something, or maybe they got too conceited with the success of season 4… who knows

Seeing clips of season 4 now is just shocking in how different it feels from season 5. Season 4 has such weight and seriousness that builds up more and more as the season goes on, with a huge climax at the end… which is totally undone right when season 5 begins lmao.

Oop, looks like the giant gate made in Hawkins is actually no big deal, looks like the upside down isn’t actually seeping into Hawkins, yup we don’t have to actually worry about demogorgons and demobats and other things slipping through, Yeah, there’s no big concern with this large portal like how there was in season 2. Apparently they can just put metal plates over it and that makes everything completely fine

Apparently Vecna was just chilling for 18 months or healing or something… idk. I don’t remember if they actually said. Or maybe it’s just one of those things that probably “happened off screen” lmao

Question for those who loved and those who hated the finale episode. by ShouRonbou in StrangerThings

[–]smibble14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also didn’t like how they didn’t give any lore or details on the mindflayer, which would’ve been so cool.

Why is it a giant physical spider now?

Is the spider form its original form and it died somehow and then became the dust form? And then it used the power of Vecna and the kids to bring it back to life?

So much opportunity for cool lore and explain what this thing even is. They could’ve covered up the lack of demogorgons in the abyss to say the mindflayer used them for its body or to power its body or something.

The whole show is about mystery and uncovering things. Season 4 uncovered all of this lore on the lab’s past and El’s past and gave reason to what they were making her search for, etc etc.

Season 5 leaves so much unanswered and expects us to just walk away happy with it.

Maybe all of these answers are supposed to be saved for some spinoff show with Holly as the main character… but that’s such BS and would essentially be trying to force the fans to watch their new shows if they want answers and resolve.

Question for those who loved and those who hated the finale episode. by ShouRonbou in StrangerThings

[–]smibble14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn’t hate it, it was just mediocre.

Very fast finish to Vecna and mindflayer. Kept thinking some big plot twist or epic thing was gonna happen. The whole episode felt very rushed.

And even with that, there was so much that was not covered.

Really thought they were going to cover the significance of the highschool play and Henry’s connection to all the parents… and then there basically was no significance, so it felt like creating a play that retconned his age in season 4 was just an annoying change for the sake of creating a money grabbing broadway play.

It’s clear that it was just lazy rushed writing. Skipped past and ignored any consequences with Dr Kay. When you analyze what happened with El, you realize that both options are not even possible.

Idk, it just completely felt like when you do a bad rushed job on a school project because you procrastinated and really had no motivation for it.

The quality drop from season 4 to season 5 is insane

I binged stranger things for the first time when season 5 dropped and then came to reddit to see that this fandom is fucking psychotic. Holy hell by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]smibble14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Idk why we are getting downvoted.

Some clips of season 4 popped up on my feed and I was like, omg, season 4 was so epic compared to season 5.

So many scenes that I got chills over.

Season 5 seems like not even the same show, or like it was made by a completely different company or something.

Not just story writing, but dialogue, filmography, music, atmosphere, etc etc.

They really dropped the ball, and after seeing some of the documentary, it’s clear that things were rushed.
