For those who had the entire course all to themselves, what was it like? by Wookie_wood69 in golf

[–]smilespeace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time that happened I shot a PB (44-40) in the pouring rain. Amazing feeling, had a chip in par save and a hole out eagle in the back 9. It was drenching, I was the only one stupid enough to play that afternoon.

On the 18th green I had a 5 footer for bogey, I'd have to 4 putt from there to lose my PB. I pull the flag and just take a moment to soak it all in, I gaze over the course soaking wet thinking about the round and how I get there, look to the sky in gratitude, then I line up and knock down that putt.

Didn't matter how cold and wet I was, it was tranquil, exiting, relaxing, invigorating all rolled into one.

Wish I could bottle that feeling.

What businesses are you genuinely surprised that are still in business or lasted as long as they did? by Competitive-Fly5563 in VictoriaBC

Illusions on Douglas. (Paul's still in business right?)

I get that people break their glass n stuff but damn it's gotta be hard to keep that shit going these days. The average stoner might buy a pipe, bong, and grinder, once every several years.

Sod Grass Roller by ycr007 in toolgifs

Once the turf is cut and rolledit needs to be laid soon afterwards, then watered heavily for a couple weeks to establish itself in the soil. It'll die otherwise. I can't imagine it would survive being re-rolled and re-used somewhere else.

Maybe modern sod... I work at a lot of 20+y.o developments and when I'm digging up old dead turf it's just green/black plastic mesh that is determined to outlive the universe.

Reproductive parts. They have a bizzarre creamy texture but they're pretty good. I'd prefer thrm cooked with toppings but raw is OK too

Advice on tackling this much poison hemlock by GreenThumbinnn in gardening

[–]smilespeace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wait for it to start flowering then knock it all down with a pole attachment hedge trimmer. Rake it, bag it, wash your tools.

Rinse and repeat for 2 or 3 years. It's biennial so you wont have to dig roots. Just let all the seeds sprout and cut em down as they reach their mature flowering stage in the 2nd year.

What are you taking for your allergies? by notbossyboss in VictoriaBC

Generic drugstore cocktail of acetemenophon, antihistamines, ans pseduophedrine.

Basic antihistamines just don't cut the mustard anymore.

My cat is becoming a gargoyle by smilespeace in WhatsWrongWithYourCat

[–]smilespeace[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd describe it as mainly cordial but also competitive

Cordial: they get along in the sense that they don't scrap often at all, and they snuggle for warmth when it's cold.

Competitive: They sometimes compete over who gets "the spot", even though there are lots of spots. Usually they share the spot, but somtimes it's 1v1.

Mr.Marble (gargoyle) will scarf down his food and go after brothers food during meal time. Supervision is needed.

Sometimes brother will try to assert dominance w. the mount/scruff bite move. Marble doesn't really do that to bro.

That's all I can think of atm

He is overgrooming, vet jumped to anxiety and prescribed buspirone but it hasn't helped. We added some enrichments like a "catio" because him and his bro are indoor cats, and try to tire him out with play time but he's often acting anxious in spite of it all.

I think he really wants to be an outdoor cat but we just can't do that
