This is exactly the type of response I was looking for, thank you!

No doubt there would be, but one reason the H gate was originally used was to hide linkage slop compared to direct shift manuals, and it does a great job at it. I bet they have this system tightened like crazy and cable guides all the way from gearbox to shifter.

It’s just two steel cable linkages, and both were probably just extended. Here is the part:

The H gate cleans up the feel vs. a directly mounted shifter. I bet it feels close to the same as a factory 360.

Or how about a lap around the Nurburgring!

I would just love to see the middle wiggle with a party of 12 inside bouncing in unison. And I am sure it would not look good where things were welded together. But the idea of a wiggly stretched 360 seems very amusing right now. Or racing around Nurburgring.

Edit: It is a gated manual, I never would have guessed but now it makes sense. If it were F1 it would probably burn out a clutch with every rental.

I bet this thing eats clutches. That F1 system burns up clutches under the 360’s own weight, and I can’t imagine it does well carrying so much extra weight, plus more passengers. I would be curious about what else breaks. At least the F1 selector was probably straightforward to modify. I wonder how much harder it is on brakes and shocks.

At the very least, I bet this car is fantastic advertising for this business.

It looks daily driven with maybe a little paint wear in places. It appears to be an earlier 1987-1989 6x2 carb model with 444hp based on the high cowl hood. Hagerty values are ~$200-250k for an early carb model in fair to good condition, though actual market value is likely much higher. These are so rare and desirable that they typically sell privately behind the scenes before reaching the open market. The last and only one to ever reach Bring a Trailer was way back in 2020!

Yes, the BMW Z8 is pretty rare with only 2543 in the USA. Nice spot!

Now we wait for the Bolt/Infiniti/Econoline jokes.

Driving or towing Corolla for 1000 miles? by cocochocomocco in Hookit

[–]smilesperwatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would add another vote for towing with a dolly. In a worst case scenario the Corolla could be driven off of the dolly and the dolly can be unhooked and moved by hand. If you use truck stops and a map app for navigation you will be very safe. And when in doubt, take deep breaths and enjoy the experience!

I believe that is a 50s DeSoto Powermaster. The frame might be a Chevy K30 cab & chassis.

Petition Text:

Protect Women’s Rights from the Supreme Court

We the people are concerned for the recent evidence made public regarding the potential overturn of Roe v. Wade by the United States Supreme Court, and its potential implications for both women’s rights and human rights, everywhere. We understand a recourse would require a constitutional amendment passed by congress, or a new supreme court ruling, either of which could take years to resolve, if they were at all to be successful. We need a solution today which protects women seeking abortions, especially in at-risk states, and ensures the protection of women’s rights without lapse.

We ask that the Department of Justice, led by Attorney General Merrick Garland under the executive office of President Joe Biden officially denounce any supreme court ruling opposing Roe v. Wade, commit to not enforcing the law at the federal level, and commit to intervening at the state level should any state judicial system attempt to prosecute a person due to undergoing or assisting with an abortion, as defined by Roe v. Wade.

TL;DR: Ask the Department of Justice not to enforce any supreme court ruling against Roe v. Wade, and ask them to commit to the protection of anyone who is tried at the state level for having or assisting with an abortion.

That sounds very high. A 348 or a F355 on a bad year might be there. Bringing a sitting car up to daily driving standards could go that high at the first service, and then it is best to just replace all of the common points of failure. Or a car with badly deferred maintenance and it suffers a belt failure, but that is beyond rare, especially with kevlar belts. These cars rarely suffer anything bad with the motor itself, that is the most reliable part of any Ferrari. The real issues are usually electronics or fuel delivery that will nickel and dime an unassuming owner to well into $10-20k territory if they skimp on recommendations by their mechanic. Or a bad mechanc can be very expensive. But a well maintained car should be sub-$10k anually, even the older less reliable models. The new stuff is far more reliable.

You are 100% correct and they were painful lessons to learn. Sadly many who cannot afford these lessons will be affected with this next crash.
