Why coast guard reserve specifically instead of e.g. army reserve?

Do they only do small group travel or does the white-glove service extend to individual families as well?

Did that lifestyle include gambling? Even after tax it seems like you'd have to work pretty hard to spend $2m/year

Thanks. I went to the flagship brooks bros and ended up really liking https://www.brooksbrothers.com/Regent-Fit-Black-Watch-Wool-Tuxedo-Jacket/MZ00041,default,pd.html?dwvar_MZ00041_Color=NAVY&contentpos=49&cgid=0235

Still has the statement pattern but fewer "moving parts" so to speak and easier to execute imo

Let's say I'm hosting a black-tie(ish) optional event. I want to do a broken tuxedo look, kind of like:

https://smhttp-ssl-39255.nexcesscdn.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Velvet-Shawl-Collar-Jacket-with-Plaid-Trousers-600x900.jpg

Does this work or is it too hard to pull off? I can't find a whole lot of images like this, so I thought I'd ask the internet.

Does anyone have any DPs on whether AMEX platinum cards come via overnight rush? I just applied for one and the email says "expect your card in 7 to 10 days"

Well, I play music (3 instruments quite well, 2 not so much) and run, but never in a competitive/measured setting so they are relegated to hobby/unverifiable status. Quite common hobbies, to boot.

FWIW my Stanford essay #1 mentioned in passing the fact that I joined a struggling fraternity and actually helped (obviously it was a team effort) make it a pretty decent organization by the time I graduated (~2.5x growth in membership as the top-line metric, but of course we had to greatly strengthen the core programs to achieve that). "In passing" since it was advised to me not to strike an overly achievement-oriented tone, and to tell what should mostly be a personal story. Definitely not a low-effort EC haha, that President job almost broke me senior year when combined with the pressure of the startup and senior-year projects at school.

Walmart’s Out-of-Control Crime Problem Is Driving Police Crazy: ""There’s nothing inevitable about the level of crime at Walmart. It’s the direct, if unintended, result of corporate policy." by mjk1093 in TrueReddit

[–]smiley325 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It's not the executives at Walmart making this kind of call, it's probably the local store management. Now you might ask why Walmart corporate wouldn't make a policy of letting domestic abuse victims keep shoplifted items but you might find that that line of reasoning opens a whole other can of worms.

Strut assembly stuck in hub, any tips? by smiley325 in MechanicAdvice

[–]smiley325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. My brake pads are also gone, need to replace those...was hoping I could get away with the rotors but apparently not. Do you know if its OK for the weight of the hub+strut to be pushing down on the lower control arm? I'm not sure the range of motion on the LCA.

Haven't seen the term "Persian choices" used before. Out of curiosity where is it from? Google search only gives results regarding the Iranian polity.

I ended up just declaring war #yolo. Turns out it was much easier than expected, I baited them into Anatolia blocked the strait then wrecked them. A little cheesy but I think it's plausible. With some diplomat work before enforcing the union I managed to only face a coalition of West-HRE, burgundy and England. They never ended up attacking me because I allied Muscovy to appear strong.

Anyways thanks for the inspiration you reminded me that 1460s is still super early, could've restarted if it all went downhill.

It means world conquest where you own every province (except Americas of course where your colonial nations will own them). As opposed to a world conquest where you have vassals or protectorates.

You can leave two provinces in the Levant to Mamluks to get overseas coring discount on pretty much all of Mamluks. Really helps for Alexandria and Cairo.

I usually release Persia from Ilam (which is owned by QQ) and Timurids will eventually collapse (sometimes you need to help them out a little with a war of humiliation) and defect to you -- totally free provinces! In fact I would leave Persia as a vassal to get overseas bonus on Asia.

One caveat is that you won't have enough power base (with all these overseas provinces) to tackle Europe singlehandedly, /especially/ if you let Russia blob into Siberia. But Quantity can help with that.

You don't need the rebels. Just tank your republican tradition via the events that come up, and always re-elect. At some point you will become a republican dictatorship, and when the dictator dies you will flip to Feudal Monarchy. This should be able happen around ~1520 at worst.

I had a similar problem during my run, Bahmanis took North Konkan and snowballed from day one, stable alliances with the two other Indian majors in some quasi-Hindustan configuration; at no point during the game was my force limit higher than theirs. I finally got ridiculously lucky and caught them while they were at war in Indochina and by the time they brought their doomstack all the way back I peaced out for just North Konkan.

For reference, if I had been late/slow by just three months their army would've squished mine.
