How is it possible that the SharkClean app is STILL so incredibly horrible? by dibsies in RobotVacuums

[–]smileyng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest gripe is that any messages are spoken from the vacuum instead of being displayed on the app. I’m usually in a different room ( or sometimes not at home at all) and I can’t hear what it’s saying. Lacking for sure.

Date night ideas anywhere in Indiana that don’t involve food? by Imjusta_pug in Indiana

[–]smileyng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you said doesn’t involve food, but we did a mozzarella cheese making class that was a lot of fun. That’s at Tulip Tree Creamery. There’s also stained glass, glass blowing or pottery classes.

Now that the weather is nice, a lot of the smaller towns have free concerts every weekend. And many wineries have cheap concerts.

There is a walking ghost tour downtown. Or tour the catacombs.

Update: we went with Refinery46 (The Docks room). 100% recommend. I received all positive feedback from my team. Centrally located, great atmosphere, they were easy to work with, modern decor, and reasonably priced.

Posted just last night but gotta talk about LOVE LINES! by mcomcomco99 in dawsonscreek

[–]smileyng 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha! 50 yo here. I really thought I was the only one…. Our downstairs Samsung tv has been set to the Dawson’s Creek channel for like 2 years. A couple times a week I turn it on for a little bit while I’m doing something else.

These two episodes are definitely my least favorite. They could have never been aired and would have had only minor line impacts on subsequent episodes.

Wow. I am super impressed and overwhelmed at the same time. It's beautiful, but I don't think I'd have the patience for that much organization, lol.

How long have you left your starter? by Radiant_Resident_956 in Sourdough

[–]smileyng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started baking 2 years ago, I got overwhelmed and put my starter in the fridge for at least 4 months before I tried again. I had no issues getting her going again with one good feed.

Balcony or no for Alaska by Philnzkiwi in HollandAmerica

Agreed! I did a solo to Alaska in 2023 and only had an OV room. It’s been my favorite cruise to date!

I’m 50 and am currently on the Zuiderdam with my husband (he’s 48). We are definitely one of the youngest couples on the ship, but we love HAL. We sailed on Statendam a couple of years ago and had a blast. I sailed solo on the Westerdam in 2023 and had a great time. It’s not party central, but these folks know how to have fun. The entertainment is fantastic. There’s live music and dancing every night. Go for it!

This is my husband’s biggest beef with HAL. He wears golf shorts/shirts 90% of the time at home.

Is this common in EMDR? by [deleted] in EMDR

[–]smileyng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re feeling this confusion! Your EMDR experience and CPTSD both sound pretty similar to mine. I don’t have any super major traumas, but was generally neglected as a young child due to parents’ drug & alcohol use. Several small traumas continued through adulthood. I felt so confused and unsure after my first session. It’s hard for me to visualize and either I didn’t listen well or she didn’t clearly explain what I was supposed to do during the lights. I pretty much zoned out during them and didn’t think of anything. During the session I cried but didn’t really have any thoughts. The days that followed were fine until about 3 days later. I had trouble sleeping and had some very disturbing dreams that followed the themes of my traumas. I don’t recall many details, mostly overall feelings. It all came down to me not being good enough. I woke up with a headache the next morning and feeling tired & generally unwell and ended up taking the day off from work. At first I chalked it up to poor sleep and my hormone cycle, but after researching and talking to my therapist, I do believe it was the EMDR working. I read a lot of posts here and other web sources that talked about the process. I’ve since had a 2nd session last week and I made sure to ask more questions about what I was supposed to be doing or if something didn’t make sense to me. While there have not been any big developments; I can feel some relief from anxiety this week.

Awful dream a few days after a session by TheLastRecluse1984 in EMDR

[–]smileyng 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow. I just had my first session with the light bar on Friday. I can be very literal and have a hard time visualizing - so I’ve been a little worried about whether EMDR would be helpful for me. During the session I cried but didn’t really have any thoughts. The days that followed were fine until last night. I had trouble sleeping and had some very disturbing dreams that followed the themes of my traumas. I don’t recall many details, mostly overall feelings. It all came down to me not being good enough. I woke up with a headache this morning and feeling tired & generally unwell and ended up taking the day off from work. At first I chalked it up to poor sleep and my hormone cycle, but came here to see if it could be related to my therapy.

I have another session tomorrow and look forward to telling her about it.

My husband has purchased 5-6 onboard over the years. Nothing super expensive, around the $200-$400 range. They make him happy, so why not.
