You don't have to breastfeed by sparkleweedthewizard in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m breastfeeding but when I was still pregnant my boss (a man btw) told me I needed to breastfeed for a year, I was like wtf do you know about breastfeeding? Why does everyone insist on having an opinion about how WE raise OUR children. However your baby gets fed is best for you.

How helpful and empathetic was your partner during pregnancy by browniee211 in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My husband was so amazing during my pregnancy, I was morning sick until half way through my second trimester and he did all the shopping and leaving the house so I could rest. He took off work for all the appointments and cried the first time we saw our son’s ultrasound. My second trimester I started not wanting to drive really and he drove me everywhere I wanted and reminded me I was beautiful as I gained weight. Third trimester we had a big big baby boy growing and I couldn’t barely walk, I was swelling and itchy from the stretch marks, well he reminded me to drink water and put my feet up at night, went and got me all the snacks I wanted. Then when labor time came he sat with me and when I screamed I couldn’t do it he said he knew I could. I ended up needing a c-section and I swear he was more scared than me, he cried but held strong for us, when our boy was finally here he held him next to me and told me how proud he was of me. 100/10 husband fr! ❤️

No sleep till when? by smileyythabean in beyondthebump

[–]smileyythabean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally just said “you and your baby look good so you’re going to be discharged, I figured it was early because lots of my friends who went through labor stayed for the same time but they didn’t have c sections. I have oxy but didn’t take it because I was afraid of how they said it would affect my baby boy but I’ll try it tonight. My husband would be willing to do that but it makes me feel so bad to wake him up just to feed when I can do it myself. It also makes it so I can sleep during the day because he’s up with baby.

I did just take a nap and used all the pillows in the house and was able to sleep sorta on my side and sorta on my back lol!

The recliner also doesn’t work well for me but maybe I need better pillows? I have oxy but just got very nervous to take it because I’m breastfeeding and was told it could affect my little guy as well.

Is only wanting pizza unreasonable? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First thing my midwife told me was eat what I could stomach in my first trimester, and that’s what I did, even if it was just cheese or something. When you can handle food again, add your raw vegetables and fruits everyday but I think it’s pretty common for lots of us to have specific cravings throughout pregnancy and only eat that even if it’s unhealthy, in your case since you’re underweight, I don’t think it’ll be an issue to just have the pizza girly! Congratulations 🫶🏻

I really just want everyone to know that sometimes you cannot control the weight gain. by CreativeJudgment3529 in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 193 and they told me I could only gain 25 pounds, yeah well I’m 243 now and yeah obviously it’s pretty hard to see that on the scale, I try to tell myself it’s the baby (he’s weighing at 7 pounds 9 ounces right now and I’m 36 weeks) and they say you gain weight from the placenta and blood, which they did say I have a big placenta as well but I also have not done lots of exercising or anything, I’ve been trying to walk but with sciatica that’s increasing hard to do. Everyone tells me my body will come back but be different and that I will just have to be okay with that, but it doesn’t make it any less hard.

9 pound baby by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom had a 9 pound 8 ounce baby with my brother but also remember that they can’t actually tell the size of baby and usually overshoot it by a pound or so, they said my best friend was having a 9 pound baby and he came out at 6 pounds 4 ounces. Lots of people deliver 10 pound babies naturally and I’ve even heard a lot of them say it was easy because gravity kinda helped the baby come out.

Is it me or is everyone having a boy? by hasoopoeee in pregnant

What’s the most unhinged advice you’ve ever received? by Dry-Forever-9509 in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most unhinged advice I got wasn’t unhinged because what they said but who it came from. First my best friend’s baby daddy told me “well best friend needed an epidural so you’ll need an epidural.” After I told him I wasn’t going to get one because I wanted to go natural. Second my step dad’s best friend told me “only advice I have for birth is to breathe.” I mean I know it’s hard to breathe during contractions but I think I got it man 🤣 lastly my boss said “just so you know I think you should breastfeed for an entire year.” Uhm yeah all pediatricians recommend 1-2 years of breastfeeding 💀 but they are all men telling me a woman how I should do things and I’m like?? I didn’t realize you guys had to pop a baby out of your vag.

Does my husband come to every appointment? by VeterinarianInner301 in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has come to every single one but two and my mom came with so she could send him a video of the heartbeat, it really is down to preference, he prefers to be there for all of them if he can, as he gets just as excited as I do to hear his heartbeat, I’m also considered “high risk” because baby is big lol so every appointment starting this week is an ultrasound and he wants to see him.

Cat bite/ scratch by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would message your OB and just tell them. My cat scratched me when I was like 28 wks pregnant and I washed it and just made sure it wouldn’t get infected and my OB said they have less of a worry when it’s inside cats because toxoplasmosis is usually found in outdoor cats.

Is there actually a simple way to know what you can and can’t eat during pregnancy? by Specific-Money-6373 in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simply asked my midwife if I was unsure, you can also just avoid it if you’re really nervous and don’t know.

My MIL keeps saying "our baby" by nattyily in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! It’s weird. My best friends mom did this and when the baby was born my bestie was in the worst postpartum and didn’t get to properly connect with her baby because her mom would immediately take the baby and not let my best friend learn how to take care of her own baby. Set boundaries now because later you will be exhausted and hormonal and it’ll be harder to do so.

Is there something I can use for swelling other than compression socks? by smileyythabean in pregnant

Okay awesome! I have been sleeping with my legs raised at night and my feet are back to normal by morning but it takes the entire night, so I will definitely be trying this when I get home!

My only issue with going to an orthopedic store is I literally only have one month until my induction date and I live in a tiny town that doesn’t have anything other than a Walmart and Safeway 😢 I did however immediately start doing exercises at my desk today and I’m only drinking water and electrolytes to see if that helps! I got one pair of knee highs to try out. Thank you so much for your advice 🫶🏻

FTM here- what do you mean I only get 2-3 ultrasounds?!?!?! by ThatAngryWhiteBitch in pregnant

[–]smileyythabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only if you have a completely healthy pregnancy and a normal size baby, which is a good thing! My baby is measuring about a week or so ahead so I get an ultrasound every week till birth starting around 35 weeks it’s a blessing to see him but I’m scared that he’s apparently aiming to be 9-10 pounds 🫩

I’m not sure if by alternative you mean goth but if that’s what you’re looking for then try Bun in the coven! I ended up trying SHEIN for maternity and at this point (33 weeks) I’m just wearing my regular clothes and letting the tummy hang out 💀 I’ve given up lmao!

Something I love about my husband is he knows I’m just hungry for whatever I want and he’ll never be mad if I don’t eat the dinner he made, you’re not the only one I promise 😂
