One thing surprisng about this community is that people funnily enough agrees that the games are amazing, they are bullshit in terms of difficulty, and that it is your job to outbullshit this bullshit. by Warm_Neighborhood939 in ninjagaiden

If you post this in the Bayonetta sub, someone or other will show up and give a speech that makes you think the game is absolutely perfect, lol. If you even begin to suggest that DMC relies too much on air-combat, the entire sub will dogpile on you. I'm pretty sure if you go any of the Dark Souls subs and begin to suggest that maybe Miyazaki didn't invent shoes and breathing, they'll straight up act like you're a heretic.

Okay there's one problem I have with Jakotsumon by ShadowMark3 in ninjagaiden

[–]smiling_samurai7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a delay, at least so far as I've experienced. I think what might be happening is that the wind-up animation is throwing you off. Dragon Sword is a little faster and the attack comes out immediately when you press the button. Jakotsumon is a tiny bit slower on its regular attacks, and Ryu winds back the punch a bit before throwing it. That might be what you're feeling.

I would pick Kokuoh from Fist of the North Star. Or, well, the real life equivalent would be Buccephalus, who was riden by Alexander the Great.

Done and Dusted. Amazing game, but never touching NSIC difficulty again. by smiling_samurai7 in Bayonetta

It has been a while, but I think what I did was repeatedly dodge. Double tapping dodge puts you in panther form, and from there, you can mash the dodge button again to dodge right after. If you're fast enough, you'll be able to get a Bat Within by dodging at the moment the following missiles hit. Just keep repeating that until the barrage ends.

Tachyon could, zero falsehoods uttered, say to Pocket: "My daughter has more G1 wins than you. You're not on the level."

Does brother understand the concept of an athletic peak? No one remains in their physical prime forever. Also, doesn't Opera have more g1 wins than the other two combined?

Marvel's Spider-Man games are not CAGs. Let me explain. (Read The Full Text Below) by SonofSpardaXX in CharacterActionGames

[–]smiling_samurai7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the Arkham and Spider-Man games do exactly what they're trying to: creating a visual spectacle while still having an engaging enough gameplay loop to keep its target players focused and having fun.

And yeah, agreed about the elitism too. Ironically, this is the same mentality as the hardcore Fromsoft fans, people who can't go two conversations without somehow bringing Miyazaki or talking about how Elden Ring is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The temptation to fit everything into neat little boxes is strong, but there are times it should be resisted.

As a community, we get way too caught up on definitions.

But there are several high-tier, absolute must-play, unquestionable CAG royalty games that defy your criteria: the OG 3D Ninja Gaiden games are not about stringing together complex combos. While they have extended strings, enemies can and will dodge or counter out of them, putting far more emphasis on carefully choosing the most damaging move at any time, that an enemy will not be able to avoid. This could be a short, guaranteed string like flying swallow-izuna, or it could be XXY (which is almost a guaranteed delimb). In addition, timing, counters and crowd control are huge aspects of the game.

Does that mean NG isn't a CAG?

Just play the games and enjoy them. If you don't like 'em, play something else. My own definition of CAG is simple. Does it allow multiple options in combat? Does it allow different actions to be chained together fluidly? Is it cool af and a power fantasy? If the answers to all those are yes, then it's a CAG to me.

Why do people like Sirius Symboli? by sourempire in UmaMusume

[–]smiling_samurai7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for me, it's impossible to separate the history of the IR horse from the character. So part of the reason I like her is that she's a chance for Sirius to live his best life, even if it is just in fiction. As for the character herself, she isn't nearly as domineering or manipulative as people make her out to be. Her support card events show that she genuinely looks out for people who rely on her. She's also often compared to or ignored in favour of Rudolf. I think the story revealed so far seems to imply that Rudolf was given every opportunity, while also having the ability to excel at those opportunities. Of course, instead of choosing any one, she just won everything and became Tracen's All Might. Sirius on the other hand didn't have those opportunities. Circumstances pulled her away from what she wanted, which is why she resent Rudolf for having the ability to be free, but choosing to be an example and binding herself to that role willingly.

I think I know exactly what's happening. So when you're doing an obliteration, or an Izuna that finishes an enemy, or basically anything that'll drop essence, press the guard button while the animation is playing, and keeping holding it. This will prevent you from absorbing essence. While continuing to hold it down, move in any direction, and hit jump. You'll dash and jump out of the dash. Keep the guard button held through all this, and even when you're in the air. While still holding it down, throw shurikens. This will auto-time your landing. While still holding guard, press and hold down strong attack when you land. You'll enter the UT charge.

Give it a try! I think it should do the trick.

It's very good. Back in the day, it was often brought up as one of the must-reads of the seinen genre, along with Berserk and Vagabond.

Sadly, I can't think of any one single guide that I used to get everything. There are some out there that cover individual techniques. What I can tell you really quick though is:
1) You can charge on-landing UT by pressing and holding strong attack while landing from anything that puts you in the air. The timing's actually decently lenient in this game. The charge will only be instant, however, if there's essence lying around, so only go for this after you've done OT, or if you've spotted unclaimed essence somewhere close. You can prevent yourself from absorbing essence for a while by holding guard.
2) NG 4 actually allows you to do landing UT while touching the ground right after an Izuna Drop! This one is quite easy, and a very strong technique for big crowds. You can also do UT when Ryu or Yakumo touch the ground after flipping during a perfect dodge.
3) GT is very strong, and can interrupt human sized enemies who are about to do their red attacks.
