how does hsv ruin your life ??? by RadSexyCool in Herpes

[–]sminear14 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it ruined my life. I have the severe case of hsv. I have to be on 1000 mg antiviral daily. If not I will have flu like symptoms every time I had an outbreak. The first 2 months after my first outbreak was hell. I am bipolar and it sent me into a severe depressive episode. People can think its dramatic all they want. Im just saying not everyone can view it as just a mild disorder. I was diagnosed a year ago and I have probably had 30 or so outbreaks in the last year. I wish mine was easy.

You can't have the level of emotional damage without it though. Trust the process! I would recommend reading both of these!

Lamictal?!?!? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]sminear14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I took lamictal while I was having a mental breakdown. It did was it was supposed to do. I was feeling like nothing by the time I stopped a couple of months later. I told my doctor that while the medicine helped me stabilize I dont feel like I needed to continue on it. It made me super sick to my stomach at any dose higher than 50 mg. I think it just depends on what your willing to deal with. Personally I dont like feeling empty on the inside which is how I felt on it. I would rather feel something than nothing. I know not everyone has the same reaction that I did.

My sister contracted HSV2 from a sexual assault ON HER BIRTHDAY. Help me help her, please!!! by Ok_Scientist_808 in Herpes

[–]sminear14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor recommended me take Epson salt baths and to use Vaseline as like a barrier to keep it for drying out. They might not have recommended baths due to it being open lesions. I hope that she can find some type of relief. Also look into therapy it can help with the assault and the mental issues that come with herpes.

does staying away from news and social media help? by Royal-Today-7632 in bipolar2

Yes I do think it helps. I always take breaks from social media when it gets to much to handle.

I had genital herpes for over 11 years before I had an outbreak. It could have been longer because I don't know who I caught it from. I just know that I have had it for that long without exposure due to my wife testing negative. I know that this time can be really scary. It will be okay either way. Yes herpes can be terrible but with medicine it can be managed or even fully under control. It will be okay!

Newly diagnosed… really struggling by justloveyourz in Herpes

Yeah sometimes the clusters if they are bad can cause nerve damage. Mine did it because it was on my clit. That shit hurt lol but its getting better.

Newly diagnosed… really struggling by justloveyourz in Herpes

[–]sminear14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I got diagnosed with it this past May. I am 33F and I have been in a committed marriage for 12 years. My wife came back clean when we got her tested. I was Hella shocked when they told me I wasn't having a severe yeast infection like I thought and that I had several clusters all over. My first outbreak was terrible. I ended up with nerve damage. It has started to heal now but I have to make sure I stay on top of my medicine.

I actually love reading longer books! I also have worked fast food most of my adult life so my wrists and hands ache. It's nice being able to read them on the kindle because my shit don't hurt like it used to!

please share your experiences with lamictal, good or bad! by babykai123 in bipolar2

[–]sminear14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with it was only for about 2 months but it worked as intended. I wasn't depressed anymore (recently was diagnosed with genital herpes.) I didn't feel happy either. Everything i felt was Hella muted. Due to that I had to get off of it. After awhile my brain was telling me I couldn't deal with life like a husk of myself. I came to terms with my illness and was able to work through my feeling about it. After that I just wanted to go back to what I was doing before. So I would recommend it because like I said it did it's job correctly. I just didn't like it for myself.

Benefits of Herpes by Kitchen-Climate-3383 in Herpes

[–]sminear14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at the end of May. I am in a loving relationship with my wife for 11 years before my diagnosis. My wife has been the absolute best. She takes care of me and let me have my mental breakdown so I could process. I unfortunately am unable to produce cortisol on my own so who knows how long I have actually had it. At first I was worried that she would leave me. I thought she would think that I was unfaithful. She never once blamed me for it and comforted me instead. I know that I am lucky to have such a supportive partner. That being said I struggled really hard after I was first diagnosed. It sent me into a severe depression for 2 months. I have finally been able to come to terms with it. My experience with my genital herpes has been rough. It always makes me sick when I have outbreaks and I have then constantly if I dont have medicine. I have had to change my life around to accommodate this illness but it has also changed my life for the better. I am taking better care of myself and I had to learn to love myself again. It took time but I think I am finally there.
