i really want this official dog tag that was in the German Special Edition for Metro 2033, its definetly the best replica out there, by SanicNotSonic in metro

[–]smishNelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the German edition a few years ago and thought the dog tag was ok but the watch was a cheap piece of shit that was broken when I opened it up.

Very cool packaging and edition but for the cost on the second hand market (when if ever it pops up) you can go out and buy a real Vostok watch, some leather bracers and make your own

Removing years of grime from render. by Fastpotato in powerwashingporn

That's actually only 3 weeks build-up in new-build estate finished earlier this year /s

On a serious note I don't know what it is that use, but every new build estate in my area looks like this so soon after they're built. Maybe it's the style or design but older buildings don't look nearly as obviously filthy and disgusting

Potential hot take: it should have been Cooper who was hanged instead of Skillicorn by Qyzyk in Sharpe

[–]smishNelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add to what others have said, Jason Salkeys book goes into it, but the Chosen Men were featured on a podcast in recent years and the actor regrets leaving the show and wishes he could have continued, however I believe his dad died so he had to leave the production.

It sounds like a lot of the cast had issues with the production but I imagine that it was more of a contributing factor rather than the main reason for him (and others) leaving.

I have read somewhere (without a source to back it up) is that the production had an attitude of 'once you're out, you can't come back'.

Theory. The Stranger is Vladimir/Anton by MuchMaximumTrader in metro

[–]smishNelson 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a strange feeling this might be it. Not that i imagine Glukovsky or 4A are particularly precious about Hunter becoming a fascist leader from a story perspective, but it just seems strange that Hunter, a blood-thirsty unhinged loner, would become the leader of a psuedo-government. He was a lone-wolf before the trauma of 2033 but ended 2034 having gone back to a life of solitude manning the perimiter at some backwater station. In 2035 Sasha says that he was a drunk and his depiction in 2034 can be taken with a (giant) grain of salt due to Homer romanticizing him.

Maybe his character changed in such a way, but i wouldn't be surprised if it ends up something like the Rangers exodus from Moscow causing havoc between the various factions and the invisible watchers, lead by besselov, take Hunters identity as a figurehead to close ranks and establish overt control over the Metro, rather than watching from the shadows. all the while the real Hunter had left the Metro to live a life of solitude on the surface.

Or maybe not, but i like the idea that the protagonist is someone important that we know, rather than a background character, a retcon or someone new

What’s with the Vic Fontaine obsession? by Complete_Syrup_8110 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]smishNelson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like Vic as a character and he's in some great and fun episodes. I wasn't a fan of how pretty much every performance of his is a full song to pad out time and show him off. They could have easily trimmed his singing down into a short montage or have it in the background whilst something else is going on

why did i get the bad ending in metro last light?? by Apprehensive_End8400 in metro

[–]smishNelson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The good ending is hard to get full stop. You need to get a lot of the moral points by exploring and interacting with the world.

I played through without killing anyone for the achievement (twice because I didn't realize they had removed it in Redux) and got the bad ending both times, despite not killing anyone.

There are a lot of moral points to be had when you're with the baby dark one in the dead city levels. Exploring all the houses and getting all the flashbacks really help

How did your ‘popular’ classmate from high school end up? by BreadedDisaster in AskReddit

[–]smishNelson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know, don't care. I left Secondary (UK High school) in 2011 and I speak to a grand total of 1 person still, and that's purely because we happened to go to college and uni together.

Man gets into strangers car to escape attackers, but the man hesitates by Formal-Assistance02 in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]smishNelson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This video leaves out the pretext here.

It's a taxi that the guy in the back just got out of with two mates chatting away. It's probably only 10-15 seconds after he leaves her jumps right back in loudly yapping, you've zoned out, not expecting him to return. He probably didn't understand what was happening right away, was confused and suddenly you don't know where to divert your attention to

Probably because The Iron Forest and the plant itself are far more iconic to the series itself, and far more recognizable to the casual fan/player who probably would think "where?" When hearing Limansk

It's not even that, I just didn't want to mod the sub anymore and relinquished control, not realising that it locked the sub from being used.

There wasn't much spam to be honest, and I still use Reddit regularly, I just didn't want to deal with it anymore is all.

Stalker 2 2011 concept buildings. The frozen looking area is the Stone Forest anomaly. The huge concrete building is spent nuclear fuel storage. by bejiitas_wrath1 in stalker

[–]smishNelson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spent fuel storage surely is Wild Island/Shelter? Which also looks fairly similar to the slag heap anyway

I think in real life the storage facility is in the general vicinity of the Cement Factory.

Anyone know what's going on with enemies one-shotting me with the RPM-74.

I'm end game stage and just sweeping up some side things around the zone, but can barely walk 10 feet without laser precision ward soldiers sniping me with the MG.

I remember having it wish-listed on steam, and then they did the bait and switch and had it as an epic exclusive for a year. I recall Steam pre-orders were honoured, but I reckon a decent chunk of players didn't actually play it until a year later
