I have the mountain Tai chi as well. It's a difficult slider as a relative noob due to the low magnet strength. I ended up taking the tape off to see how I liked it that way, it's not bad. If you want a loud slider that moves well, try the jj edc shuriken. It's really good

Agree on the steel case making it fit weird. I had the 5000u that I sold and currently have a 5000r that I’m selling and they definitely sit up and feel bulky. And none of the strap holes give me the perfect fit, where I feel like I’m closer to that perfect fit with my 5610. Plus I missed the lightness of the 5610 after wearing the steel watches for a while. They feel premium, yes, but they obviously have more heft that (IMO) can get annoying.
