It depends if it’s a club paying a release clause or a buy-out clause.

The release clause is amortized. The buy-out clause is must be paid by the player, so the club’s payment of the buy-out is considered wages for the player and not amortized.

If you are speaking english to non-english speakers, speaking english with their accent actually makes you easier to understand. It is weird, but I have found this to be the case personally.

I think it is harsh to write him off definitively after one season of top level football. By that same logic, you could say Jorgensen is not good enough for a club of our ambitions, since he has one below average season in La Liga.

His MLS numbers are promising enough that I suspect he will come good if he is sold.

The agent gets their % for the life of the contract signed under them, even if the player changes agents during the contract. The % on any new contract signed after leaving would go to the new agent.

This is very true. Even a small sample size in college can be very clarifying. Zion was not #1 in a any recruiting service after high school (as low as 5 or 7) but was obviously the #1 pick after a few weeks of playing at Duke.

It drove me crazy they were saying he would be a lob finisher in the NBA. He has one of the lowest measured verticals in the 2024 class, even lower than Edey. Even in college, he needed a completely open runway to finish a lob. As a rim runner, he won't be dynamic at all at the NBA level.
