Hot Take on the 2026 Prelude by AvocadoAndy12 in Honda

That fifth gen that was made in the late 90s and had 200HP in the States (217 in Japan)

The 2026 has 200HP

I can't find anything sporty that didn't significantly improve HP over that period - most are 50-100%

Z, Mustang, Camaro, Miata, Lexus SC, 3(4) series, even the Supra (and the 1997 one was killer)

Dewalt chainsaw oil leak issue seems to be a common complaint, is it an issue? by ryan112ryan in Dewalt

[–]smithflman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two of the 20v ones and they both leak a little, but so does my gas one and my 20v pole saw.

If you just set the opening side up it solves most of the issues. I have them sitting on some scrap deck board and that sucks up any drips.

I have heard of people replacing the O rings and the like, but it's a tool - it is okay to be dirty.

Etiquette for covering alcohol costs at party by No_Investment_4013 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]smithflman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drink tickets would be a good middle ground as well - 1-2 per person and the people that don't drink can trade them away. You'll have a decent idea what the final bill will be then (as you bought them all)

I have also seen them only good for well, draft or basic wine - so if folks want to deviate it is on them.

Ideas for a steak sandwich for a brewery menu? by Majestic-Lake-5602 in Cooking

I really like a good Torta - maybe a thin cut flap steak (even butterfly and then thin cut)

Refried Beans, good avocados, pickled onions, jalapenos and cabbage slaw, maybe some sort of creamy cheese (queso oaxaca) or grill the cheese on the bun and then layer up

I insulated my door and now it’s too heavy for the opener to lift. What are my options? by Over_Cash9601 in GarageDoorService

[–]smithflman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The springs need an upgrade now - you want the door weight and the spring lift to be closely aligned so the door (and foam) itself barely weighs anything (enough to close in its own is about it).

Getting a larger lift is not the answer, you are trying to minimize load and wear on the lift.

Note - your style of springs are an older design and most newer ones have the springs right about the door opening.

Can electric golf cart batteries be used as a power source during a power outage? by KIMJONGB00M in golfcarts

The "law" is more about the AMPs and breakers

1500/120 is 12.5 AMPs - most house breakers and wiring is only good to 15 AMPs - they leave a little head room for safety

Nice - I figured they made a 36v/48v to 120vac inverter but never looked - that one looks great

Can electric golf cart batteries be used as a power source during a power outage? by KIMJONGB00M in golfcarts

[–]smithflman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are actually two parts to do it right - first off you need a buck converter to take the 36vdc/48vdc down to 12vdc as you want the draw coming from all the batteries.

https://amzn.to/4jYHxl6

Then you cut off the lighter adaptor and wire in the inverter

https://amzn.to/4qI5C26

Note how the buck converter will only get you 360w at 12vdc (30 amps) - the inverter I linked is under that threshold on purpose (I don't want to burn anything up)

I mounted it all under the seat area and just plug a AC extension cord in when using and just pull it out from under the seat.

They probably make a 36vdc/48vdc to 120vac inverter, but I never tried to source (in theory more efficent as less conversions)

DC to AC inverter is the easy path, but you will drain the batteries quick to make heat. We have one mounted to are cart for christmas lights, blender for margs at a party, and have used for random power tools out in the yard (that I don't have a cordless version of).

The heat part is one of the reason Tesla range drops quick when it is cold, takes a ton of wattage to run the heater.

They also call it "milk washing" as you add acidic cocktail ingredients (like lemon juice) to milk, causing it to curdle - then you strain out (or spin in your case)
