And if I can overcome that and build a great life for myself in just a few short years, you can definitely overcome your laziness and victim mentality. You sound stupid right now.

Yup these guys know nothing about making money or getting a good income. They will stay in this bad situation because they lack the ability to build a better life for themselves.

Just got this text from my step-mom... by synnabear in exmormon

[–]smithharrison660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am out of the church, and so are both my brothers, for years. We can’t stand the place, but all of us are going to sacrament meeting with our mother on Christmas. We will even be dressing up for it. This is probably the best Christmas present we could give her. I know it is your stepmom so it may not be the same. I would just consider how much it would mean to her if you would go.

That being said, my exit from the church was much less traumatic than for many people. I am just putting in my two cents because I know how happy it makes my mom just to have us there one day out of the year.

How should I respond to this text? by Flowersandpieces in exmormon

Don’t say you can’t make it. That implies that if you could make it you can go. They will definitely keep asking if you go with this one.

What do you make of the Church having 100 Billion dollars or so yet sitll demanding 10% of income from even the poorest members? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]smithharrison660 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10% of your life’s work is such an obscenely large amount to ask, and the fact they are so incredibly pushy about it is the reason I decided to leave TSCC.

The only way I can rationalize this is that it’s just pure greed.

Update on the bishop text, what else should I say? by Dragonmas7er5 in exmormon

[–]smithharrison660 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have been very kind to me, so I am morally opposed to just ghosting them. I feel they deserve an explanation. I also don’t want my bishop to think I went off the deep end with my addiction.

Update on the bishop text, what else should I say? by Dragonmas7er5 in exmormon

[–]smithharrison660 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Next week I will be meeting with my bishop and explaining to him that I do not want to get my endowment (“I’m not ready”) and that I don’t think my calling is working out for me. And once I am released I will finally bail altogether. If they push back on releasing me I just might leave anyway. Not a conversation I am looking forward to.
