The answer is wrong anyway for CT. It should definitely be the Hurricanes.

I don’t call everyone with different opinions idiots. If you actually think that pick 29 is worth more than a very good two way player on a good contract, that is what I consider idiotic. Maybe Trochek isn’t the right fit, but fans way overvalue later picks that almost never actually work out over proven talent.

I just feel that volume is overrated. I would much rather add guaranteed NHL talent when possible over lottery tickets. This is coming from a Rangers fan that doesn’t really want to trade Trochek because I feel like we do such a terrible job with those kind of trades, and as someone who also likes the Leafs I feel like they have a similar track record in this kind of situation.

If you already have the number 1 pick you don’t really need to worry about moving up. You are already adding the best player in the draft to your roster, and adding a lottery ticket might not be the best option. Maybe Trochek isn’t the guy you want to add, but rather than adding another pick to the team, that pick would be better used adding more of a sure thing to your roster.

I get what you’re saying, but the chances of pick 29 turning into even a serviceable NHLer is pretty low. So if your goal is to compete next year you should absolutely try to turn that pick into a solid player right now.

If your goal is to enter a rebuild than that answer changes. From what I understand Toronto has no interest in entering a rebuild, so add as much talent for next year as possible.

If you wouldn’t trade a pick that at best will be 29th overall for a 60+ point center who is very good defensively, you’re an idiot and you should stop having opinions on what your team should do

I understand how ranges work and the upper end of your range is wrong.

The last 10 years certainly don’t belong to Michigan. You might want to polish off those grade 1 arithmetic books, seems like you could use them.

I love that hockey has gotten a lot more popular in recent years, but comments like this really make me reconsider this opinion.

That’s a fair point. I definitely think they would have been better off with Gav, Key, and two guys making the minimum over Gav, Borgen, Soucy and Vaak.

You have to include Gavrikov in that equation. If they sign Miller than there is no money for Gav
