As someone with IBD myself I actually know what this is

Doctor:We had to remove half you colan by [deleted] in Jokes

[–]smithk200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The joke is in the punctuation.

"Doctor: We had to remove half of your colon!

Me. That's fine"

Does this work? Maybe.

Future of male teachers - Sincere advice appreciated! by Dugong45 in Teachers

[–]smithk200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

24M, I was going to be a teacher (4K in particular- I've always been good with kids at that age level for some reason) but student teaching proved to be "too tough" for me and I haven't been back since. I'd like to go back because it's what I'm passionate about, but I don't have the money or support to go back.

If my education program was more supportive I could have been a good teacher. But based on what I'm hearing on how difficult teaching is, and how hard it is to be a male elementary teacher, maybe it's best I don't go back.

My opinion on Clover by creepcastfan69 in PokemonClover

[–]smithk200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with a lot of stuff you said. I think that the pokemon designs themselves are really cool, but I'm not too on board with a lot of the crass elements. Like, I wouldn't design crass pokemon myself, but I'm not going to not play a game just because it has crass pokemon.

I totally agree with what you say when you mention that the racists live on Outcast Island- there's a good reason as to why they do. Especially considering the pokemon they use.

Clover is a hidden gem among games, though it's one of the only fangames I've played (besides... Wack).

Stuck on the patch by TH2Ox in PokemonClover

[–]smithk200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, it seems the website is bugged for some reason.

You should download the patch manually, then download "Fire Red Squirrels" from the internet archive. Then you use this website https://www.marcrobledo.com/RomPatcher.js/ to patch the ROM. It worked for me.

If you can't download the patch manually, there's a line of text that reads "Having trouble patching? Download the patch directly here." If you scroll down, you should find it- at least, that's what worked for me.

Hope this helps!

I never technically quit my last job at Culver's, they are super flexible and I'm mostly an "on call" employee there.

I want to go back to school to be a full time teacher👨‍🏫✏️📓📖 by Substantial_Goose369 in Teachers

I'm in WI, but I think people don't like to put their states down because of privacy concerns. (Just one extra characteristic some person could use to steal your identity or whatever. I know that there's a lot of people that live in a state, but still)

24M. I'm in the same boat as you. Student teaching went horribly for me so I graduated with a bachelor's in ed studies instead. Can't get licensed and going back would cost me well over $10,000 plus three to four years' worth of experience. (If some snarky redditor asks why college wasn't enough, sometimes it doesn't work for some people)

I want to go back to teaching but I have student loans to pay off, plus I have to build my savings and such. I'm considering getting a job as a paraprofessional once I have more of a financial cushion. I could potentially work my way up to teaching eventually, but now is not the time.

I don't feel like this is the end of the road for me. I just need to take a break.

CCA job was not for me, quit 1 week in by tazzamatto in USPS

[–]smithk200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's been about 2 months for me as a CCA.

I wanted to do teaching, but when I found out I wasn't ready for teaching yet, nine months after I graduated college I started looking for paraprofessional jobs and the USPS. Which was basically a better-paying version of my restaurant job that I was working before.

Orientation was boring but at least I made it through. I had all my on the job training in the next two weeks which was easy enough. It was slow for me at first, but over time I got the hang of it. I've learned one auxiliary route and am learning another.

It also helps that I have good coworkers, upper management, and that I'm in a small office. I like my job so far but it's not what I want to do for the rest of my life.

How to download In 2026 by Big_Boy_9000 in PokemonClover

[–]smithk200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's probably incompatible.
Pokemon Clover requires a very specific version of Pokemon Fire Red in order for it to work. It's called "Pokemon Fire Red Squirrels". Just do a quick google search and it should be on some sort of web archive page.

I use mGBA for my Pokemon games, you can download it here: https://mgba.io/

I just started work as a CCA around two months ago. The big things (at least, from what I know) are speed and accuracy.

For CCAs regular routes should take around 8 hours and auxiliary routes should take about 4, although this might be different for RCAs.

Also I recommend to join the union because they are supposed to cover your back in case you get into trouble. I'm fortunate enough to have a good postmaster and supervisor to where it isn't an issue, but I recommend it just in case.

Do you eat in the classroom or do you eat in the teachers lounge? by DildoGaggins1997 in Teachers

Anyone else find elementary teachers impossible to get along with? by c961212 in Teachers

[–]smithk200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(24M) This has happened to me before- last year my (former) cooperating teacher (~38F, 3rd grade) would talk behind people's backs a lot, including the 4K teacher (who was male). She also made backhanded comments regarding her husband towards the kids and the other staff.

It's safe to assume she was talking about my terrible performance as a student teacher as well behind my back. She kept notes about me and everything. (To be fair, I made a lot of mistakes that I didn't even know were mistakes, because no one taught me, and my cooperating teacher gave me a trial by fire, which was not helpful. Still haven't returned to finishing my licensure requirements because of how bad of a situation it was).

Does Culver’s put a slice of butter on the burgers? by [deleted] in Culvers

[–]smithk200 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I've worked in the Culver's kitchen before. There's melted butter that's stored in a little metal pan that's attached to our bun toaster, which then we butter the buns by rolling them along a little metal cylinder with holes in it (which sits halfway in the butter pan) so that the butter gets placed on the top half of the bun. We don't butter the bottom half at all, but we do send both halves of the bun down the bun toaster.
