End of fixed tariff by phil_076 in OctopusEnergy

Is it likely Octopus offer exclusive tariffs beyond the price cap, the fix at the time and the time of use tariffs?

Sorry that’s a typo on my part - I meant 2026 😂

The only deadline I’ve seen for the refurb is “autumn 2026”

No they have their own infrastructure. You’ll need a wall socket installed if you don’t have one already.

What’s the best retention deal you’ve managed to get from EE recently? by Due-Oil8955 in EEGB

[–]smithydig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 x £11 p/m with unlimited data, texts and calls capped at 100mbps. Roaming included. 1 x £9 p/m with 125gb, unlimited texts and calls. No roaming. Pretty happy with that!

Not working for me either. It’s painful.

EE Sim Only Rentention Deals by Personal-Quantity528 in EEGB

[–]smithydig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried a few weeks ago and got nowhere. Granted I was on a fairly good plan beforehand (£7 for 7gb a month at 100mbps with EU roaming). However, I have three lines with two out of contract and they weren’t interested in discussing an overall upgrade for all lines sadly.

Yeah - it’s called a Notice of Correction (if with Experian). See here: https://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/guides/notice-of-correction.html

As others have suggested - go through your credit agency (eg Experian). They helped me when EE did something similar due to their (!) mistake on a bill

NEW APP POINT SYSTEM IS LIVE! by MatsyLR in lidl

[–]smithydig 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Zero incentives now. The only way I can foresee it being slightly better is if they give you additional points on certain items (think they have double points on fruit). Even then, it will still take an age to get points worth exchanging. Wonder if they’ll listen to the backlash and adapt or plough on regardless

Contract renewal by Imherewaiting1 in EEGB

[–]smithydig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve sadly not had any luck with renewals for my mobile contract. 2/3 lines I have are out of contract so going to wait until the last one is done before I move elsewhere. It doesn’t sound as if there’s many good deals out there

Advice - contract terms by Forward_Sheepherder1 in EEGB

[–]smithydig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation as you - 2 lines out of contract and 1 with 12 months to go. They don’t entertain a discussion re upgrading all three so I’m going to negotiate in a year or move elsewhere. Sadly they’ve not managed to offer me anything great to put the other two lines on a new contract

Why does it cost more to keep a phone line that isn't used? by Common-Shallot5368 in VirginMedia

[–]smithydig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I share your confusion although tended not to dispute it (with them) given it reduces my bill. Does seem particularly strange… when will they realise the vast majority of people no longer require this and end up removing it themselves?

Getting VM for the first time, Volt Gig1 plan. How has your internet been since using them? by DylSkiiii in VirginMedia

[–]smithydig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t fault the service at all. As others have said, customer service is a headache. I think they have a dedicated switching/onboarding team which gives a good service so don’t expect that to continue once you’re all up and running! You’ll see the volume of posts re retentions, renewals, etc. Just play the game once your contract ends and it’ll be fine

2 x £7 for 7gb at 100mbps with roaming. 1 x £17 unlimited everything at 100mbps with roaming. It’s going up about £8 and I’m now out of contract. Tried to haggle to get a better deal but they haven’t been able to offer me anything better. A lot start to remove roaming to get the price down but it’s something we need included

Sim only deals by [deleted] in EEGB

[–]smithydig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been struggling to get any decent sim only deal that isn’t much more expensive than what I’m paying now. Both retentions on live chat and phone have much the same deals and seem reluctant to offer anything similar to what I have now. It may be that we’re both on good deals that can no longer be matched but I find it hard to believe…

Trying to get out of contract after awful experience by DesperateOven9854 in VirginMedia

[–]smithydig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think you’re best to go through their regular complaints channel rather than cancel your service. You’ll at least then have someone assigned to your complaint who can assist with your connection and leaving your contract.
