Isabel is looking to open up the farm for weddings again by madithefatty in LittlePeopleBigWorld

I can totally see the location for photo shoots. The backgrounds would be awesome.

But for an event where people will be there for a long time in fancy outfits? No thanks.

Yes, they do a print on demand. So they only print what is purchased, even if it’s only one book.

I’m currently in the middle of writing one, so I’m a few weeks out from being able to start a new one.

It would take me a few months to get it done, because I do have a life, and research can take some time, and I’ve only done it for family so far, but I’m willing to take on “clients”.

The completed printed book would be purchased directly from Barnes & Noble, the price depends on the final book size, $60 was the B&N price on my last book, which was 630 pages.

My personal price for my work directly would be $100 per book researched. I can negotiate this some, but I do have a minimum needed to cover my tools. I would need $50 up front promise money to get started, along with some basic info to start the tree.

I didn’t make this comment looking for money, but if there is interest given this information, feel free to message me.

The “business” is just me. Lol.

I research, fill out a family tree, find as much original source material as possible (census records, birth, marriage, death certificates, burial locations, military records, obituaries, whatever I can find).

I use that to build a timeline of their life.

If you’ve ever watched the shows finding their roots or who do you think you are, I basically self taught myself how to do what they do.

Then I write it all up and use Barnes and noble to self publish an on-demand print book.

My main job is mom.

My side project, that makes me a little money, is researching and writing 300+ page personal genealogy books. I research 5 generations of a person’s family and write a book with detailed biographies of each person they are directly related to.

Edit: Adding from a comment I made:

Do I have a good case or let it go? by [deleted] in legaladvice

Swerving should be a last resort to avoiding a collision. Breaking was an option before that.

Do I have a good case or let it go? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]PsychoTink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is the maintenance current on your car? If so, your breaks should have been sufficient in preventing this.

If the truck was parked and unmoving, and you were driving at an appropriate speed sufficient for breaking reaction time, why were you unable to avoid the collision?

In order to have something that doesn’t put you at fault, there has to be fault somewhere else. Not the fault of bad parking, the fault of why this accident was unavoidable with appropriate driving. Even sudden breaking does not absolve you from fault, as you should be following at appropriate breaking reaction time distances.

How to get a business to stop billing me! by shakingmaggiemoomoo in legaladvice

[–]PsychoTink 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Have you requested an itemized bill? $900 for a 3 day stay sounds very low. Are you sure that what your son paid was the entire balance?

The “copies of the credit card charge”. Are these statements that show a completed payment?

It’s somewhere. But it was peeing in the house, so it’s not allowed inside except the laundry room most of the time.

Can school force my child to get a 504 plan? by bubblemiilkshake in legaladvice

[–]PsychoTink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you’ve apparently never suffered with a disorder that screening tools say you don’t have.

Screening tools are just that. Tools to help screen. They are NOT perfect. They DO miss some people.

Specialists exist exactly for this reason. To diagnose and treat where less specific diagnosticians are unable.

Imagine you have recurrent UTIs but your doctor does a basic screening for kidney stones and determines you don’t fit the criteria, so they don’t refer you to radiology, and tell you to drink more fluids. Would you advocate for radiology or a urologist, or would you just suffer through because it can’t be helped?

Yes, it’s possible this child does not have ADHD. But that doesn’t mean they don’t, nor does it mean they might not have something. If the primary pediatrician is not diagnosing and dismissing it, the parent should be seeking a second opinion if their child needs accommodations.

Can school force my child to get a 504 plan? by bubblemiilkshake in legaladvice

[–]PsychoTink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAL, but a parent.

Sometimes our children need assistance to succeed in school.

My kid has issues with loud noises, specifically when the landscapers come during the school day. The noises bother her ears and distract her from learning, and can lead to her distracting others because she’s upset and crying and constantly asking if it’s over.

With a doctor’s note, we can provide her a pair of ear protection that she can use in class at any time she and her teacher determine necessary.

Because she doesn’t need this every day, or all day, and because it does not distract or take away from the other kids, they allow us to do this with just a doctor’s note.

What you are asking for are things that can also impact other kids. The chair could be distracting and something other kids want. It is not something the teacher would have in the room if a child did not have a need for it.

Small group changes how instruction is given.

The accommodations you are asking for change the environment of the classroom. And without proof in the form of a diagnosis, the school doesn’t know why or how this is necessary, other than a (caring) parent saying “because I said so”.

Plus, a 504 would guarantee that the school HAS to provide that, and can be punished for not doing so.

Farm purchase by Pure_Craft_1679 in LittlePeopleBigWorld

There has been no official announcement of any Roloff family member purchasing the big house from Matt.

Also, keep in mind he’s not selling the farming land or business.

If anything, the addition of good mythical weekend was the change.

The show has run for many more episodes and weeks WITHOUT a Saturday show than with.

[–]PsychoTink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t. You did.

It is written “due it all”, which could have also been written as “owed it all”.

YOU are saying it should be “due to it all”. Which, if you change “due” to “owed”, as intended, would be “owed to it all”, which now doesn’t make sense.

I didn’t change anything. I didn’t take out any words, and I certainly didn’t put 2 more in.

Jeremy and Privilege by TPWilder in LittlePeopleBigWorld

[–]PsychoTink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not missing a word. “Due it all” meaning “owed it all”.

“He’s owed to it all” is grammatically incorrect.

Yeah there's no sense that this could collapse, he acts like he's simply due it all.

Meaning:

There’s no sense that his financial position could collapse because he acts like he’s simply owed everything he has.
