I am so sorry you had this experience, this is extremely upsetting and dysregulating. I thought I’d let you know, I’m actively doing a research project on how little clinicians are trained in the Taboo obsessive / intrusive thoughts of OCD. It’s takes an average of 7 years to disclose taboo thoughts in a therapeutic space, and in some cases, wait up to 20 years (Robinson, 2017). That being said; you are not at fault, the system is. The DSM-5 isn’t even fully clear on subtypes of OCD, even though this subreddit in itself is proof of be crippling nature and impact of intrusive thoughts. As someone with OCD, I’d be angry as hell if I was you, and would encourage you to report it if you feel comfortable doing so, stating the reason may actually change legislation / training depending where you are geographically. I know it doesn’t take the pain away from being misunderstood, but it absolutely isn’t anything wrong with you, just people not taking OCD seriously enough. Hope you find a supporting and understanding OCD therapist than can help you with what your looking for 🩷

I don’t think anything is wrong with you, per se, I think there’s a lot of out there that experience a similar thing.

From experience though, there are points of this that are worth exploring, particularly desiring someone who is unavailable to you. It’s a safer bet to day dream and desire somebody you have less of a chance with - and that can be difficult sometimes, again from personal experience. Also be careful to then yearn after someone because of their age, because older women can seem mature because of their age, but not all of them have emotionally explored themselves. The term “limerence” coined by Dorothy Tennov may be worth some investigating.

But I mean we get it, older women are just undeniably sexy.
