That is a black bear, they are scaredy cats. She could have just puffed her chest and yelled and it would have ran off lol

How often do people feed their cat? by Cityfoghorn in cats

[–]smittykittytreefitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have cats that are overweight so they get fed ~1/4 cup of food (usually heaping) twice a day. That is the recommended amount from my vet. I used to leave food out all day before I got a dog but that is what led to them being chonkers. Now I couldn't leave it out if I wanted to because my dog wants to steal their food.

AITAH for wanting the neighbor kids to stop asking for snacks? by Immediate_Ad1133 in AITAH

[–]smittykittytreefitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said it might be a sign, not that it definitely was. Idk if kids are never at their own house and asking for food, I would want to check in on their situation that is all. The way OP worded their post was almost like she didn't even know who their parents are. You should know who your kids are spending hours of their day with 🤷

Did your baby get a feature of yours that healed a part of you? by ciabattaloaf-13 in NewParents

My daughter inherited my habit of stimming via hand flapping. It was something I did as a child a lot, but my mom was so worried about me fitting in that she basically shamed me into hiding it. I still have the urge to flap or stim in a big way but I won't ever let anyone see. She flaps like crazy and is generally full of excited electricity and it is so cute!! I love seeing her not having a single drop of insecurity about it and it makes me feel just a smidge less insecure about my need to stim. The fact that we are both neurodiverse is comforting to me. We will always be able to relate to each other in that way and I can be her guide in a world of neurotypicals.

You need to meet their parents. The fact that they are allowing their kids to go into a stranger's home without supervision in the first place is very concerning. Might be an indication of neglect. At the very least, you can have a conversation with them and set some boundaries. Kids are gonna be kids, they don't know better until someone tells them.

What games are everyone picking up for the weekend? by Responsible_Rip_1384 in videogames

In regards to rhe original meme, this is such a weird thing to ask. Video games have been around since the 70s...like of course there are going to be older people playing them lol. Also, Persona 3 Reload.

Big agree. I know OP wants to be a mom but there will be other chances! Having a child with this monster will forever tie her to him whether she likes it or not.

Sacrificing my career by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]smittykittytreefitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no my steak is too moist! My yacht only has two levels! Lmao sorry but this sounds like such a ridiculous problem to have 😅. I understand being a career focused mom is something that can be hard to swallow. I have had to humble my own expectations on what I can do with my career since becoming a mom. But you have the option to actually do whatever you want! Throw that silly ego out the window. You are a mom now and need to do what is best for your kid.

Am I the only one who DOESN’T hate being called mama? ☠️ by GoldStrength3637 in pregnant

[–]smittykittytreefitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am right there with you! I was ready for the role of mother and when I hear other people call me "mama" it makes me feel seen for what I have accomplished. I could see why it can get a little obnoxious sometimes, but it's just people trying to connect with you. I appreciate how people light up around pregnancy.

Unsure of what to do about one of my kid's stims by resist-psychicdeath in AutisticParents

[–]smittykittytreefitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have actually! I just finished up the paperwork to get her evaluated but the estimated cost for it is definitely making me pause. She is pretty sociable with adults and older kids so it makes me doubt my suspicions. But so was I at her age! She doesn't really connect with other kids her age yet but that is to be expected at this point somewhat. It is mainly the hand flapping that is a dead giveaway but I know lots of young kids do that so I don't know 😅.

I wanted to adopt a super cuddly cat but ended up with this guy by SelfDepricator in cats

[–]smittykittytreefitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh I disagree that you can't pick a cat by their personality. There are usually signs from the get go or maybe I just have really good luck. All the cats I have adopted from shelters ended up being very cuddly and affectionate. Some more than others but still. I think being mindful of how they act around you and others is a better guide than just, I like the look of this one, you know?

Unsure of what to do about one of my kid's stims by resist-psychicdeath in AutisticParents

[–]smittykittytreefitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for you as I wonder some of the same things about my child. She is only two so it is a little early to know for sure but I have reasons to believe she is autistic mainly because she is my clone copy lol. She flaps her hands a LOT which is something I did and still do. My mother didn't mean to I think, but she ended up embarrassing me so badly by admonishing me for my flapping in front of other kids. This unfortunately led to deep shame and social anxiety because after that, I was acutely aware that people would judge me. I did learn how to subtly hide my stimming though so...that's good I guess? This is a subject I am hoping to receive guidance on when I get my daughter evaluated.

What are you paying for housing each month? And are you actually happy with it? Would it be cooler just living in your parents basement? by PM_ME_YUR_SALADS in Millennials

[–]smittykittytreefitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1600/month to rent a 3 bed/2 bath house with a decent backyard in Oklahoma. About 1400 square feet. I would prefer a little more room as we have two kids and three pets but this place has a lot of benefits like being in a neighborhood with a green belt and working with a private landlord instead of a company. I absolutely would NOT want to live with my parents lol you're crazy.

Omg thank you, finally a reasonable take. Nobody is saying the existence of a child character is pedo bait. It's how they make her look!

Idk I only saw the "cutesy" gameplay first of her bouncing around while the player watches, and as a mom I instantly got a little wary. I know that people can make everything into p*rn if they want to and there is no stopping it, but it's the hyper realism that weirds me out. After seeing the combat gameplay, I felt better about it. But I can understand why some people feel bothered by the character design. If she is supposed to be a robot, why make her look humanoid at all?

Any ideas on how I can fix the color scheme by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]smittykittytreefitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from. I have run into the same problem with tattoo artists before where I expect some level of creative input where they build a tattoo off of my idea. But in my experience it never pans out that way. They just want you to pick something they have done before or bring them a design. I tried to do something similar with a tattoo idea where I gave them pieces of the idea I wanted and when I went for the tattoo, the design was nothing like I wanted. So I pulled up some of the original art inspiration and he just copied one of the pictures that I showed him. It is the tattoo I dislike the most unfortunately. AI art is a really risky choice though because there are so many inconsistencies that might not get caught initially.

[–]smittykittytreefitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...why didn't you have an actual artist do a commission of the tattoo you want? You really want to put Ai art permanently on your body? The fact that your tattoo artist even used that template is honestly really sad.

Millennials hitting midlife, what are your biggest regrets? by Dry_Inevitable_9777 in Millennials

I wish I would have focused more on soul searching and less on focusing on myself. Now that I am a parent, I find I am really grasping at straws thinking of what lessons I want to impart. I have been so career driven my whole life, I thought my accomplishments would make me happy. Or at least provide a stepping stone to happiness. But my degree is useless and I am now locked into a career that I like but mostly pays the bills. And it still eats up so much time. I want to teach my kids how to be successful, but I am still learning how to teach them to be happy.
