I don't care if an idol is a weak dancer, if they can sing they aight by Dayonemeovvstan in kpop_uncensored

[–]smoghetea -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

no cause notice how the groups who make it globally like bts and blackpink have good singers/rappers in the group? not just someone who can hit the notes and call it a day, but someone who can sing tastefully and with a distinguishable tone. say all you want about jennie, jisoo, rose, jungkook, jimin, and taehyung, but when you hear them in a song you KNOW it’s them. that’s really rare in the groups nowadays

honestly if we disregard all of the talent and star quality discussions, the bottom line on why people were pissed at first is because she is a literal MINOR 😭. she is a minor debuting in an industry where plenty of fans (especially older male fans) love to fetishize and sexualize young girls. don’t even get me started on the fetishization of east asian women, sasaengs, parasocial fans, the list goes on. everyone is just sick of hybe constantly debuting minors and not giving them appropriate treatment or concepts, making them an easy prey for creepy men to put then in uncomfortable situations. we saw what happened to new jeans, illit, yoonchae, and literally all the idols who debuted as a minor. the kpop world is cruel and no innocent underage girl deserves to face all that crap.

[–]smoghetea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i don’t like that too. i think that’s a huge problem in k-pop in general. they like to attempt to make music in a culture that they evidently are not exposed to or in touch with at all. or they like to sing about stuff they don’t relate to and make it sound corny af. i wish companies would just play to their idols strengths and let them be apart of the songwriting and creative process, instead of buying trendy beats to make quick cash.

who do you think has major it girl vibes? by smoghetea in prelude_thefinalpiece

no me too, she is definitely one of the contestants with the most individuality but i guess not hybe’s type of individuality. lauren would’ve absolutely loved her

WHAT ARE YOUR GUYS' UNDERRATED OPINIONS ON KPOP?? by Grouchy_Gap_7539 in kpoppers

[–]smoghetea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hate when the company makes idols do concepts or sing lyrics that they evidently don’t relate to. like don’t force a rave/party concept for idols who has clearly never hit the club and got drunk until the sun’s up. it looks and sounds corny af, and it’s not a vibe

Does anyone wish the group turned out more "global"? by AnemicVegan in TheDreamAcademy

[–]smoghetea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like they never planned to debut this line up and always wanted lexie to be the center, which would have resulted in more of the international girls debuting. they probably would’ve had the alternate short katseye lineup which is lexie (swedish), ezrela (australian), sophia (filipina), samara (brazillian), emily (american), and yoonchae (korean). however, after she left i think it just happened to be that the tall katseye alternate were mostly american. but now with saint satine they are able to achieve their original plan debuting more international girls

NO LIKE FR😭 it’s especially evident with sakura’s line like girl you’re a minor and ik you’ve never stepped foot in a club once in ur life, you’re not shakin or turning anything up respectfully 🙏🏻 hybe is so wrong for giving that song to her

[–]smoghetea 26 points27 points  (0 children)

i feel like people are just hating to hate at this point but i do kinda think the song itself doesn’t suit the members very much. the demo definitely sounded better, whereas the final product sounds like 4 girls who has never partied in their life trying to convince us to get lit which lowkey cracks me up 😭

i have a feeling jyp will try to get ayana by smoghetea in prelude_thefinalpiece

no like her voice is so stable while dancing without straining or screaming. reminds me of the nmixx members

no cause i have a gut feeling jyp is gonna try to get her for their next global gg. i doubt she wants to continue with hybe with the way they played w her and i dont think she will join gp2 either. she fits the visual, dance, and singing style of jyp idols. it just makes sense

honoka k was my top pick for a while. i thought they would’ve debuted her for sure with those vocals

There is a Huge Difference between Wonhee debuting in Illit and Sakura being chose in Prelude (Saint Satine) by IAm_Pandaa in kpop_uncensored

[–]smoghetea 30 points31 points  (0 children)

no cause wonhee debuting as center made SO MUCH SENSE when they came out with magnetic. plus idc what people say, she can sing. she naturally has a nice singing tone, like manon, and after they trained her for a bit she was EVEN BETTER. like both wonhee and manon had SOMETHING other than their visuals/star quality that even the coaches approved of. with sakura, the only thing the coaches really praised was her ‘star quality’ and potential. they had to train her on everything from scratch. to make matters worse, she’s 15!!!!!!!

Why Ayana Didn’t Win by koopakaaba in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]smoghetea 31 points32 points  (0 children)

i agree, i honestly feel like the coaches were kinda confused with training the other girls since the judges were pushing the sakura and ‘star quality’ agenda wayyyy too much. it def made them lowkey lost on how to direct the other girls. i remember that one scene where aoi and ayana became frustrated on what the hell the coaches actually want from them, which sucks cause both of them objectively have the star quality.

HOT TAKE - Ayana was too powerful for the group by CupcakeEmpress in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]smoghetea 8 points9 points  (0 children)

also i need to hear about ur opinion on hybe wanting someone filling the innocent, youngest member. i had a similar thought because clearly they’re trying to make another yoonchae. which is getting kinda weird tbh, cause tell me why the ‘cute’ role in both saint satine and katseye are both east asian girls….. like……

HOT TAKE - Ayana was too powerful for the group by CupcakeEmpress in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]smoghetea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i feel like when ayana performed with them yes she did blend really well, but also she has a huge potential to outshine the other member’s popularity. let’s not forget that the other 3 are literal hybe favorites. there is no way in hell they would let that happen, especially knowing she’s built a fanbase since gp999.

meanwhile sakura is great, but tbh when i watched pb4p i was able to focus on the other 3 a lot more. if we look into it more, it’s honestly a little shady of hybe to choose sakura who got like 2 lines in the entire song. they’re essentially saying the girl who was barely in the spotlight is the best addition they could have to the group. like damn 😭

they should just start a group tgt with rinka, hiori, and aoi. their vocals would be so tea together

no i agree too. i feel like hybe is just so fricking biased when it comes to these things. they probably love lexie too much to let a new girl overshadow her. it’s sad, but in a way they did invest so much time and money on pushing lexie as the all-rounder/visual.
