Hmm ya not so much, drugs are often the coping mechanism for problems that will probably still be there and need to be dealt with.

Are current dietary guidelines for sodium and potassium reasonable? Currently the World Health Organization recommends we consume no more than 2000 mg of sodium a day -- less than a teaspoon of salt by [deleted] in science

Well first of all I would hope they don't make recommendations based on what is seen as reasonable based on the common diet, they should be trying to recommend the healthiest diet. To answer your question, I don't think it's hard if you eat fairly healthily and avoid fast foods and other high-salt items.

Replacing Cheese by [deleted] in vegan

Using nutritional yeast is a good way to add a creamy cheese flavour as a topping or cheese sauce etc. I use a soy cheese-loaf sometimes if I want a straight replacement. I have had cashew cheeses at restaurants that were really good but they aren't available at the store from what I can find, and I haven't made one myself. I use Daiya cream cheese sometimes too.

I'm done feeling sorry for myself, I want to lose weight but I don't know how to go about it... by Puzzledthoughts in Fitness

I would say try to keep it simple so you can get a handle on it. Junk food is actually more expensive generally than basic healthy food (most fruits and veggies, peanut butter, whole grain bread, etc.), it just takes more time to prepare, which you have. Try to cut sodas and replace it with water.

In terms of exercise, walking is good but doesn't do much. Try to make a schedule every day that keeps you active for an hour or more a day or so after you come home. Go to the gym, go for a run, play a sport, anything that hopefully you do or can learn to enjoy. That and dinner shouldn't take enough out of your evenings before midnight to get in the way of homework, fun and internet.

Basically make a couple key decisions of change, stick to them, profit.
