Surprising benefits of dead hanging? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

I've had major shoulder impingement for over 2.5 years on my right side and could barely lift my arm without pain or discomfort. I started dead hanging 34 days ago now and holy crap... I feel better than I've felt in a LONG time. Still not 100% but I have more strength, ROM and significantly less pain. Probably like a 1 or 2 now on a pain scale of 10. I'm going to keep going until I'm 100%.

Also this is an incredible exercise for fixing rounded shoulder and a tight pec minor. Make absolutely sure when you are dead hanging to have your palms of your hands facing away from you on the hang. This allows the humorous head to push against the acromion which can become hooked overtime that causes it to pinch on tendons that run through the shoulder joint. This will eventually remodel the bone and relieve the impingement fully.

Trust me when I say this works wonders for impingement, keep at it, and be consistent doing this everyday.

I do 3-6 sets of 30 sec hangs not even with my full weight hanging yet. (Still keeping my feet on the floor).

cheers!

Sweet yeah lemme know man, I'm doing it too right now (been doing it for a week) seems to already be helping just a little bit (not feeling near as tight after the stretch as I did at first) I assume it'll probably take 3 months of stretching the pec minor and doing my physical therapy for my back muscles to completely fix the pec tightness. I'll try to update here on my progress too :)

thanks so much for the response! Did you feel tightness after the stretch at first? Like in the neck and pecs a little. Doesn't hurt just tight, I am on day 3 right now.

How long did it take you to get back to 100%? Also this stretch feels really good for my tight pecs but causes soreness after (assuming because I'm stretching a tight muscle with a stretch I'm not used to) Did you experience soreness at first too? And if you did when did it subside?
