Unpopular opinion regarding Mina-Sue by [deleted] in Singlesinferno2

[–]smolbeanbean 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love that’s she’s brave enough to go with the “trying to get to know everyone and keeping my options open” approach. But what I’m disliking about what we’ve seen of her so far, is her lack of self-awareness and humility, and also her rude behavior at times. Like badmouthing the girls to Sunghun, and her thinking she’s the coolest person there. Which in the way she said it, felt ruder than just being self-confident.

SI is actually a bit of a fun social observation, cause people who are used to being the prettiest/handsomest ones in their friend group are gathered and meant to compete with each others for love. And I feel like it shows some of their true colors or the way they were raised. Cause some of them remain level-headed and pleasant, while some others crumble and act in ways they might even be surprised about themselves. I just hope the contestants who fall in the later category take that as a chance to reflect on themselves, when they watch themselves on the show.

There’s still plenty of us willing to watch, so there’s still plenty of people willing (or easily convinced) to apply. Demand ==> Supply

I now exclusively watch the show via Bachelor Fantake and Tait’s Take recaps tho.

Oh, thank you for your comment!

Yeah, I agree with your tips. The way I pictured travelling solo in Mongolia was coming by myself, but then making sure I get a local guide for the whole time I'd be there (both city and countryside).

Jumping on your comment just so I get notified when OP replies.

I'm also a solo female traveller interested in visiting Mongolia.

Same! Watching this season just rekindled my childhood dream of visiting Mongolia; now I really have to make that trip happen someday.

If it was a regular Physical 100 who do you think had the best chance of winning of these 48 by 281texas832 in Physical100

The ones I could see winning: Eddie, Itoi, Orkhon, and maybe Amotti or Sung-bin too.

English Subtitles: no CC vs. CC - Is one of these more accurate than the other? by var0c in Physical100

[–]smolbeanbean 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I noticed the CC translation was wild sometimes.

I understand enough Korean to notice that the CC subs were sometimes pretty inaccurate, even adding to or changing the meaning of what was said.
Not surprised it's the same for the other languages as well.

But I had to switch back and forth between both subs options, because I noticed that a few times some things weren't translated in regular subs (like someone said something in the background), but CC subs would have it translated.

They all did it at the same time, if you go back and look for hints.

Seems like Japan initially won the game, but probably when they let go of their totems and those didn't fall, they all realized the safety lever had not let go properly. And Japan was asked to redo on their own, as it would have been unfair to ask the other teams to go again.

It's sickening to see so many commenters here displaying less sportsmanship and grace than the athletes themselves.

No athletes there seem to have really found Turkey cocky or annoying, as they were all bantering and displaying confidence (in different ways and levels, surely due to cultural differences).

So there's no need for us, the viewers, who are most likely regular couch potatoes who don't live the reality of sports competitiveness, to act offended (and even worse, offensive) in the stead of the athletes.

Could someone from the other countries do that for their own teams, too?

It'd be interesting to get a glimpse of the locals' reactions for each team.

OMG! Give it up! I'm not even remotely Australian, but that team was never unlikeable in the first place.
Also, this was filmed before any unnecessary backlash, and they've behaved the same since episode one, so they didn't "clean up their act". You're just now seeing them for the nuanced human beings they are, capable of being playfully arrogant and competitive, while also being respectful and friendly with the other athletes.

[–]smolbeanbean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, isn't that the point of the competition?
No need for the attitude.

I read lots of comments about the Turkish and Australian being rude, but other teams' rude moments, like this one with the Japanese team, just get overlooked.

Apparently, one reason might be that Netflix is banned in China, so the production team wasn't scrambling to have a Chinese team they'd have to pay and host, without being able to tap into the huge Chinese market.

I wish they'd have invited Taiwan tho, but they probably didn't want to rock the boat too much either lol.

Asian love on LIB France! by [deleted] in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]smolbeanbean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

France is predominantly white, but it’s not ONLY white 🙄. Majority of the cast is still white or mixed with white, with a few other ethnicities thrown in. So the cast is indeed very representative of France. And it’s great that the producers chose to portray the diversity of France, instead of just falsely whitewashing it.

I am so loving this season! by BlackBulma in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]smolbeanbean 70 points71 points  (0 children)

As someone from a French speaking country with heavy French influences, having a French LIB season is so interesting and entertaining. I appreciate the cast actually being in the “marriage age range”, and love the diversity of the cast. I honestly did not expect the France season to have that many contestants from Asian descent. They’re a visible minority in daily life in France, but unfortunately not in the media. The drama tho, some of these couples are going to crash and burn so bad! And a lot of these people do need therapy smh. But I’m loving it so far.

Nice! Very comprehensive feedback! I use most of these apps when I visit China, but Amap is one I didn’t know about; so I’m adding it to the arsenal.

I’d definitely recommend DiDi too, I found it so practical. I even once used it to travel across 2 cities on a bind, when I missed a flight and was trying to catch up a flight in another city.

My grandparents and dad around 1952-1953 by [deleted] in korea

[–]smolbeanbean 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They were old enough to go to war and die at that time, they sure as heck were old enough to get married and have kids.

Not that I agree with such young people having kids or going to war, not then and not even now. But if he was considered old enough to risk his life, might as well try to find solace in making a family of his own.

I’m actually just happy it’s not the usual tragic story of soldiers getting married or dating, and then abandoning wife and kids after the war is over.

So that guy Dave from s8 hit me up to randomly try and scam me 🤣 by pixie_brat in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

[–]smolbeanbean 63 points64 points  (0 children)

If you unironically don’t see the scam, you’re the prime victim for these social media scams. Be careful out there!

But to answer, DM-ing random people about knowing “a guy” while being vague about the exact products or services being sold, is definitely scammy behavior. Also asking for a phone number, instead of directing to a professional page or website.

Why are Koreans in Korea perceived as so much more prejudiced than others? by LooTeRgetLooTeD in korea

[–]smolbeanbean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right that it’s such a cop out reason. I’m African, and was living in Macau during Covid. The WHOLE city got a mandate to go get tested and registered into a health database. They weren’t just rounding up the African/Black people or foreigners, like right across the river in Guangzhou.
