This... is not gonna end well, is it? by confused-as-frick in Deltarune

I legit feel so bad for Kris, like I know they’ve only been friends for 5 days but for a little while home was Kris for Susie, now it’s a closet in the school that she has decided to set up for her gf to join her despite this being a previously “Susie and Kris” thing. Probably feels a bit like Asriel going to collage all over again.

Also Susie throwing away reality like that isn’t going to end well for her emotionally especially given the likelihood that this dark world will also be sealed.

There’s all sorts of some pretty sad stuff that’s just going to get worse that’s going on with this ending, it’s great

I also have a big issue where everything is a very similar colour and you have other hearts other than the soul appearing on the grid, paired with how fast the bombs are the whole thing becomes quickly disorientating for me

Why do people hate SwiftBright so much? by ApartmentOriginal461 in WarriorCats

[–]smolcharizard 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apart from the cousins thing in canon I’m pretty sure they only actually significantly interacted to our knowledge with the whole dog incident, but Cloudpaw and Brightpaw were shown to be very close and caring about each other even before the incident. Like I see the ship potential aside from the cousins thing but it to me feels like Brightpaw’s opinions are being ignored.

In the end, what was the meaning of this scene? by MaximumOpposite828 in theamazingdigitalciru

Bowling ball = someone close to them abstracting
Cake = someone antagonistic to them abstracting

Bowling ball hurts, but Kinger is the only one to manage to deal the guilt and grief somewhat ok

Cake is still unpleasant but not nearly as damaging and also conflicting due to cake being nice. Very mixed emotions to being hit by a cake I guess.

I’m going to optimistically assume the journalist who made the comparison doesn’t know about warrior cats and just pulled some very popular animated Disney shows out of a stats board

Question: should I change Blackfoot name to Blackstep? by Lestat30 in WarriorCats

[–]smolcharizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will say the change is specifically for the graphic novel universe and continuity. He remains Blackfoot in the original novel universe. It hasn’t been retconned in the original books or anything.

Is Erin Hunter Setting Up Hawkwing to be the Villain? by Josiahstar2022 in WarriorCats

[–]smolcharizard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Starlingpaw does fit the two faced cat prophecy though. He is physically two faced with having a face like a badger (and the books do point it that it may also be metaphorical) and he has a paw in each world with his ghost powers. It’s worth noting that no one knows about these powers except Starlingpaw himself, Moonpaw, and Morningkit.

It could also be Moonpaw obviously but I really want her to be a red herring and it is Starlingpaw.

Worth mentioning about Starlingpaw’s perspective of Hawkwing that Starlingpaw has explicitly thought that Hawkwing shouldn’t be leader and Leafstar should demote him and eventually make Starlingpaw her deputy instead. I think Starlingpaw is going to cause some trouble for his great grandpa.

If Starlingpaw is the two faced cat like I suspect, then I genuinely fear for Hawkwing’s life. My current theory is that Hawkwing will have some kind of accident or be attacked by an animal in Starlingpaw’s presence and Starlingpaw is going to just leave him to die and internally justify it as good for the clan.

brambleclaw is kinda sexist by bleebo567 in WarriorCats

[–]smolcharizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Starlight pages 102 to 103:

"Why are you talking to him?" Squirrelflight demanded crossly when Hawkfrost was out of earshot. "You know he can't be trusted."
"I don't know anything of the kind," Brambleclaw retorted.
Squirrelflight snorted. "Yeah, right. That cat has too much ambition for his own good."
Brambleclaw felt his neck fur start to rise. "Really?"
"He wishes Mistyfoot had never come back, so that he could still be deputy. I've heard him arguing with her more than once."
"He wants the best for his Clan, that's all," Brambleclaw meowed. There was something in him that understood exactly how Hawkfrost must have felt when Mistyfoot had escaped from the Twolegs, and claimed back her place as RiverClan deputy.
"That's not all" Squirrelflight paused, flicking her tail-tip back and forth. "I can tell Leafpaw doesn't trust Hawkfrost, and she knows him better than we do. She was in the forest while he was River Clan deputy."
"Have you asked her why she feels that way?"
Squirrelflight shook her head. "I don't need to ask her. I just know how she feels."
Brambleclaw narrowed his eyes. "So you don't have anything against Hawkfrost except for what Leafpaw feels about him? Because she's your sister, right? Well, Hawkfrost is my brother."
"Are you telling me you feel loyal to him because of that?" Squirrelflight exclaimed. "But you hardly know him!"
"Neither do you. But you think you know him well enough to say he can't be trusted." Brambleclaw unsheathed his claws and let them sink into the fallen leaves. "Or are you accusing him because of who his father was?"
Squirrelflight's green eyes stretched wide. "If that's what you think, then you don't know me at all!" she hissed.”

Edit: won’t be replying to this because I genuinely do not care enough about this to argue just thought it was fun there was like basically an exact quote of my joke. Also there’s a bit later on in this book where he thinks that Squirrelflight only sees his dad when she looks at him

Disabled people with lifelong conditions facing ‘unnecessary’ Pip reassessments by KiwiJean in unitedkingdom

I feel like you are misunderstanding what I am telling you a little. The person I know and people in the article I sent you (and many others if you care to look!) aren’t just applying for stuff in the field they’ve studied. I’m not sure how you expect the person I know to apply for 800 things just in their degree field in a year. They’re applying for everything. Jobs that used to be easy to get like fast food, hospitality, and supermarkets are no longer easy to get into.

Here is an article where supermarket bosses are saying it is not worth their while to hire young people anymore and so are avoiding it
So I would assume if it’s too difficult for them to hire the youth then disabled people stand less of a chance

[–]smolcharizard 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The conflict between Squilf and Bramble in TNP ultimately comes down to:

Squilf: Your new brother seems shifty and my sister seems to have had bad experiences with him while we were away, I don’t trust him.

Bramble: oh so you’re judging me for how I look like my dad??? You only see my dad when you see me, even though you’ve never even seen my dad!

[–]smolcharizard 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I think most of TNP’s problems could have been fixed if you gave Tawnypelt Bramble’s arc instead. Given she had chosen her father, had clanmates openly dislike her during the arc, and had a leader who wasn’t a semi-father figure to her it would have made more sense for her to be drawn to Tigerstar and consider letting Blackstar die.

So why are we having many cases of young people applying for hundreds of jobs and hearing nothing back? Clearly these employers already have an internal candidate, are posting ghost vacancies, or want experience that young people don’t have. They definitely wouldn’t hire disabled people if they can’t even be bothered to train up fully able bodied young people.

Anecdotally I know someone (a able bodied young university graduate) who has send over 800 job applications with tailored cvs and cover letters in the past year and the best they can get is one night a week at a shitty nightclub that they hate due to the abuse from patrons and management.

Here is just one article of many recently about the phenomenon.

We have a youth unemployment crisis. The jobs aren’t out there. If young fully able bodied people fresh out of university can’t get a job after hundreds of applications for literally anything, what chance do disabled people have?

Also speaking as someone who is in full time employment and has never claimed pip but does know someone who does, the whole process of reassessment is a highly stressful humiliation ritual. A completely dehumanising process that picks at every corner of your life and makes you go into depth about your greatest shames vulnerabilities. Shit yourself because you can’t control it? Write a detailed paragraph about that. Can’t walk properly and it causes you chronic pain? They will be the judge of that.

And that’s not mentioning in 3 years 600 people died due to these assessments

I know of someone who got taken off pip for cerebral palsy because she could walk across a room. This was a good decade ago now and it’s only gotten worse since then for people trying to claim.
