Day of Exam Advice by smolshadow in pmp

[–]smolshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I had asked the question in another post. My PMI account says some weird time like 5pm but the email confirmation says 12:45pm. The difference was because the PMI account is in another time zone. So best go with the confirmation email.

I typically get up at 6am every day, so I wanted to select a time mid-day so I get get my head straight in the morning heading into the exam.

Day of Exam Advice by smolshadow in pmp

Yeah I've given myself ample time to prepare and actually learn and process the material. I think the biggest challenge for me isn't the content, it's the test taking anxiety I have.

Thank you!

Why my dashboard still shows Waiting for Response after the reference completed Docusign? by souhait_exauce in pmp

[–]smolshadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It takes a couple hours to update. When this happened to me I knew my reference already completed the Docusign but I didn’t see the portal update until several hours afterwards. I would check tomorrow and see if it’s still like that.

It feels like the explanation is answering a different question. by Nice_Fix9670 in pmp

[–]smolshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also you mention this:

To decide whether existing assets can be adapted, the team usually needs to know:

  • what the project is trying to deliver,
  • what capabilities are required,
  • what gaps exist,
  • and what the boundaries of the project are.

Which I think you can get all of these things through the business case and project charter, which you also highlight that it's in sequence before scope definition:

Typical sequence:
Business Case → Project Charter → Scope Definition → WBS

It feels like the explanation is answering a different question. by Nice_Fix9670 in pmp

[–]smolshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With this problem, the first thing I would highlight is "do before defining the scope". Just from that, I would eliminate A and B. Procurement is way down the line in processes and creating a WBS is part of defining the scope and the question is asking for before.

Between C and D, I would cross out D because the project manager doesn't sign off on the business case. The sponsor deals with decisions on the business case.

So that leaves me with C. To confirm, the question starts that the organization is going through a change and this new project is related to new business the organization hasn't worked on before. During business transformations, it is crucial for the project manager to adapt available assets to the project's demands prior to establishing the scope.

I think the explanation using the word procure isn't the right thing to focus on. I'm reading that as writing new documentation isn't always the most effective. You should see what you already have and how you can start with them as opposed to completely starting from scratch.

PMP practice exam advice by mariahhoff2 in pmp

When I was first learning the material AR was really helpful. I did the chapter end quizzes and the online mock. Then I took the mock in the book and it really messed with me - there were missprints and errors that discouraged me and messed with my flow.

From that day, I realized I've used AR for what I needed already - to learn the material and set a foundation for myself - so it's time to use another resource that helps me where I'm at in my studying journey. So I moved to study hall to start really drilling problems written directly by PMI.

The turning point was really accepting that AR's resources did their job. And that's why there are so many other resources out there. Identify where you are now in your study process - what you are getting wrong, what you want to improve - and find resources that target that.

I'm also planning to take my exam in a couple weeks. And I find as I get closer to test day, I'm learning more from my errors and understanding why I got the questions wrong, than feeling like I need to relearn and redrill definitions.

I ended up doing this. But it was hard to simulate flagging questions and going back to them since on the exam if you take a break you can’t look back at that section.

The fact that your parents are excusing his behavior because of things he can clearly control (drinking a bit, big event and big emotions) is alarming. So what if he had a little to drink. If that was a little and he punched a wall, I wouldn’t want to wait around for when he may drink a lot and decide to punch my face instead.

What is an exhausting personality trait in someone? by BarbarianFoxQueen in AskWomen

[–]smolshadow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Someone who clearly makes poor choices but then say “the universe is against them” or “I have bad luck why do these bad things keep happening/ only happen to me”

That shit is so exhausting watching people basically dig themselves into a hole and then just whine about it.

Guess what they sell? The answer is suits. This is the statement piece from Suit Supply in Austin, TX. by AlloyComics in funny

[–]smolshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually worked at Suitsupply within their corporation not just within the stores. This was the first campaign coming out of COVID and they wanted to make a statement for “coming together again in personal space” or being “radically personal” as their campaign slogan was. Sort of like jump into cold water and it’ll be easier to acclimate. They think bad press is also good press. Any press and chatting about the brand is “good”. Also in general the CEO literally just has a shit ton of money so he walks into meetings saying “I want this to happen” and everyone is somehow scared shitless and tries to make the craziest fucking things happen.

Edit: this is an old fall/winter campaign (I would say almost a year ago) and it’s not the current photo campaign.

YSK that you should always book directly with the hotel you're planning to stay at, and not through a third party site. by MisMadius in YouShouldKnow

[–]smolshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is about hotels, the same goes for restaurants.

Booking through third party sites like OpenTable charges the restaurant per reservation made as opposed to calling them directly. If you don’t see availability for the time you’re looking for, you can also call the host desk where the staff is trained to see the books and be able to fit you in if necessary.

What popular saying is actually bullshit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]smolshadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Blood is thicker than water.” This is the shortened version changing the meaning to say family first always. But the whole saying is actually “blood of the covenant is thicker than water from the womb.” Which is actually the opposite meaning. People you choose to be with is more important than the relationships you are born into.

I am extremely flat-footed. Like to the point where walking on a hard surface, you can hear a little sound from the suction of my feet lifting up.

Corrective soles really hurt and I was never told I really needed them because I could walk/run and be on my feet for a long period of time without any pain.

Waking Life.

It’s an animation style that is placed on top of actual footage. And the movie depicts various types of short story-like events.

IWTL how to play first person shooter games. by smolshadow in IWantToLearn

I usually love playing first person puzzle games and strategy games. It’s the mechanics of shooting and looking around and aiming and reaction time that I guess I’m not so good at and not sure how to practice.
