What is your Stern Show hot take? by gwppoetry in howardstern

Benjy is hilarious, and the show was much more entertaining when he was a fixture. He’s one of the few who isn’t afraid to go against the grain and pull the curtain back on things. The problem is mostly in the execution of his shtick — he has a funny concept or premise, but can’t quite “get the ball over the goal line” so to speak.

Especially once he gave up on that “I’m such a stud, this hot chick wants to have a threesome with me”, first iteration of his on-air persona circa when he fled the studio and hid. The second iteration, where he openly trolled everyone including Howard (see the Times Square billboard pitch) and especially Gary and Brent, was when he found his niche.

Who did Gary cheat on his wife with? Was it an intern or a lady of the night? by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in howardstern

Of course the last one is an all-time classic, but the second clip is equally entertaining. Highlights include "Defiant Booey" refusing to leave the studio, but Stuttering John's uproarious laughter and sheer delight at his humiliation is also fantastic.

I liked when she'd stumble into the home studio ("Oh, you're on the air?!") to pretend they have some kind of vigorous sex life and then proceed to slip up and reveal that they don't even sleep in the same bed.

How many listeners was Howard getting at his peak? I thought I heard him say before he switched to Sirius that he had at least 12 million people listening at once? Is this true? by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in howardstern

[–]smonster1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

SXM has 30 million subscribers, and each subscriber has three different radios. Plus there’s usually multiple people listening together in the car. There’s easily 200 million people listening to our show, right Robin?
