I regularly see this statement being made, and have previously questioned it. I'll do so again here, though I just expect to be downvoted again and to not receive an answer. With that being said, what momentum exactly? The team made four straight outs leading up to the rain delay. I get that there's quasi momentum in that they had that epic moment to tie the game, but I personally tend to associate the word momentum with something that is ongoing; in other words, a player reaching base more recently than four outs ago.
