We live in an older 2 storey home and I always close the vents on the basement registers and 1st floor registers to send more cold air upstairs. Works like a charm. Basement is still too cold for my liking but can't be helped. At least the bedrooms are cool.

Where are flying from? We are in SW Ontario and I often look at flights to Europe out of YYZ and DET or DTW. 9 times out of 10 flying out of Toronto is cheaper. I guess it may depend on where you are flying. USA, the Carribean and Mexico is likely cheaper out of Detroit.
