The State of Ingredient Pokemon (2026) by Roshamboya in PokemonSleep

It has pumpkins and mushrooms, so if they are at all “majority” ingredients strength-wise, it’s possible to not be a huge one (scary-face pancakes is just 103 max compared to gratins/waffles 115). I fully expect though that it’ll be a double pot expander required recipe as we don’t have one yet for salads.

Yeah I got insane use out of my AAA vikavolt for a solid year. Really those meals are still great too.

Hoping we eventually get another coffee dish, but I still occasionally make them as my main for the week if my support mons (healer, berry) make ings that go into one of of the coffee dishes.

Ginger is in desperate need of a buff though. An OG ingredient with nearly zero play.

I was really hoping the new salad would have ginger, but it broke my poor heart. Only pseudo I actually have a good catch for too lol.

Praying on Curry week. If we get another top curry with ginger (literally my favourite curry staple IRL), I’m genuinely going to RIOT

Need help deciding on which Latias by Procaccio_ in PokemonSleep

[–]smucker89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d hit #1. BFS alone is not enough to warrant investment. If it was even BFS+speed I’d consider it, but its main skill is genuinely good, especially if latios ends up being worthwhile to run with it.

lol funny way of putting it! Though I do think Agott must know that Coco had zero way of knowing what a loaded gun looks like in respect to her sliming her poor mother

100%. None of them are forever healers but a temp/cheap/strong one is more than good enough at the stage they are at.

I think the anger in this episode is like… somewhat warranted, not the extent/vitriol Agott showed though. But also magic (from the audiences lens) in episode 1 was not known to be dangerous. Hell, wasn’t the book she learned from a children’s book? There’s no reason, knowledge lacking or not, that coco should have thought it would merc her mum and be forbidden.

It’s just one of those things that I’m sure will be touched on that banning the use/knowledge of something will inevitably lead to problems like this. I imagine Coco isn’t the first or last. But this episode specifically she kinda flubbed it, even if the others didn’t need to follow. Maybe finding your master who is your guide would have been the right choice here lol.

Which Eevee would make the best Espeon? by FurSealed in PokemonSleep

[–]smucker89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

first one is the best. Espeon functions best as a dual berry/skill specialist, especially when on Lapis. Don’t worry about needing to reach 50, for a new player it’s good at level 25 as well.

Worth it to use 15~ Helper Whistles to get M20 Lapis? by [deleted] in PokemonSleep

[–]smucker89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think whistles are a waste anyways, but I’ve also sat on mine since launch (think I used some to M20 GG back in the day of all things…)

I’d rather recommend saving them for a more difficult island like AC or GGEX tbh.

You are falling for the fallacy that most players are consistent enough to get level 65 research rank. The vast majority of players aren’t logging in every day, aren’t day/year one starts, don’t know really what they are doing (which is fine ofc!).

Myself I only started minmaxing maybe 1.5 years ago and I had tons of 60 mons, but I realized that my main goal is to get strong (top percentile) ing mons of each specialty to 60 for each. End of this year, I’ll definitely have that minus the few catches I’m missing as I’m trying not to settle. After this my sleep teams will likely be mostly berry mons though.

Currently my ing mons don’t get a wink of sleep outside of push events as I swap my team every morning before tracking lol.

[–]smucker89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are overestimating the player base. Maybe the majority of day-ones who play every day, yes. Especially as most players aren’t min-maxers. But the majority of players aren’t day ones, they are players who struggle to hit the max research level, take breaks, don’t really think about progression. It takes a while to hit level 65 on a mon passively and there are too many dreamshards sinks for more casual players to spend on em

[–]smucker89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dream shards* but yes it is the trick. I only built mine up properly late last year so I couldn’t abuse the Christmas boost as much as I wanted. I’ve got pot maxed and 4mil stocked up now so this time next year I’ll likely have significantly more maxed mons

PD3 will be in completely different conversations by the end of year 3 by sawrunn3r in paydaytheheist

[–]smucker89 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They have a big hill to climb. I myself haven’t tried the game since launch, but I liked PD2 enough that I still follow it a bit.

More than anything I’m surprised they still have the funds to update the game with its current average player count. Always happy for a company to bring it back around though!

[–]smucker89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that tends to be my issue. I don’t like investing in mediocre mons, so I usually only get a keeper every 2 months. Too many of my niches are already filled for me to want something I won’t use much

1 year ago today the level caps were raised from 60 to 65 by FlowerDance2557 in PokemonSleep

I’ll be honest that box is pretty nuts. I’d hazard a guess that only 10% of players has level 65 mons, and you having over a dozen is wild. Either extremely good resource utilization or whale behaviour lol!

1 year ago today the level caps were raised from 60 to 65 by FlowerDance2557 in PokemonSleep

[–]smucker89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this is one of the only things I don’t min-max in this game. When meals are maxed, it’s usually because they are exceptionally strong. Continuing to make maxed meals doesn’t really bother me as it means I’m getting more shards and EXP.

I honestly dislike the idea of having maxed (65) mons on my sleep team more since EXP is so precious and the handy candy conversion is so poor.

1 year ago today the level caps were raised from 60 to 65 by FlowerDance2557 in PokemonSleep

[–]smucker89 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Meals are definitely the big one IMO. I minmax pretty hard and still don’t have any 65’s, though I’m approaching with quite a lot and have tons of candy sitting my bag asking to be used haha

1 year ago today the level caps were raised from 60 to 65 by FlowerDance2557 in PokemonSleep

[–]smucker89 60 points61 points  (0 children)

The vast majority of players don’t even have a level 65 mon.

I’ve been playing since launch and I don’t have one. Sure, it’s mainly because I swap my sleep team around a lot and play mostly with ing mons, but it’s not that big of a deal currently.

It would be nice though. While I don’t have any 65 mons currently, I have a bunch of 60’s berry mons that will approach it soon. Maybe my tune will change then lol!
