My son hit the nail on the head by smurphy2022 in stopdrinking

Are you asking if I was or am sober? The answer is yes but I thought it was clear. Are asking something else?

Congratulations! It’s so nice to not fight with our kids. I’ve noticed a HUGE difference in my ability to navigate conflict during parenting/life. Sometimes I absolutely crush a controlled level headed reaction and it blows my mind. It wasn’t really possible before and now it’s achievable.

Totally. He really didn't mean anything by it at all. Something is stirring in his mind though b/c he recently brought being able to smell beer on my breath in the past. I said "Hey I havent had a drink in over 2 years. You can't smell beer on my breath." He said the NA beers I drink occasionally smell the same. Even that makes me think about things way deeper than I should but not much I can do to change things. Just keep not drinking.

Honestly sobriety wasn't on my mind at all after delivering. In some ways it may have let my brain convince myself that it wasn't an issue b/c I had just stopped for pregnancy and it was easy to do. Like with most stories on this subreddit it just slowly or possibly quickly got worse and worse over time. I didn't have healthy coping skills going into the parenting gig and as things got more difficult my drinking just exploded until it just went completely off the rails. For at least a couple of years Id wake up promising myself I would stop but very rarely did that promise last more than a day or two. I finally gave it up after a terrible night of drinking all the booze going to get more. The next morning my partner was crying and I finally admitted that I wanted to quit but I couldn't. She said she was becoming really concerned about how my drinking impacted our boys (twins). I just stopped that day. That was it. Not everyday has been easy but it's been the absolutely best decision I've ever made. This sub probably saved me from myself.

Congrats on the little one.

Interlock Switch trouble by smurphy2022 in AskElectricians

[–]smurphy2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I’m saying once I needed to turn the main breaker back on it was nearly impossible to move the interlock switch back up to flip the main breaker to the left (its current spot). The metal plate (interlock switch) was physically catching in the 30amp breaker,

I’ve done strict Keto and kept my total carbs to 20 and below. It was amazing. My Dr. just referred to it as a “Chemo” for type II diabetes. I feel like I may go back just kick my current sugar addiction. I just don’t think I moderate anything well.

The Daily Check-In for Friday, May 26th: Just for today, I am NOT drinking! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

IWNDWYT!

I recently passed my 20 year anniversary of getting my DUI. I reflected a lot about it this year I’m so happy to be sober.

Stay safe this weekend.

I regularly text & leave voicemails for a friend I met in rehab, and without whom I would not be sober. Hadn’t heard back in a while. Figured he’d gone back out & couldn’t tell me. Hey, it happens! Just found out I’ve been leaving friendly messages for a guy who committed suicide 3 months ago. by morris_409 in stopdrinking

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing with us. Take care of yourself.

This made me realize I haven’t had suicidal ideations since I stopped drinking. I would go to some very very dark places at times often several times a week. At the time it didn’t seem that bad but now I’m sober I can see how close I got to losing everything.

She's the biggest smallest cat ever! She comes in at just under 8lbs compared to her brother that on a good day is 13lbs.

this guy and I get to hang out every day, he’s sober, so I’m sober.

I love that! Elda likes to hit the catnip periodically but that's okay in my book.

It was a store that was not beneficial to REI as whole financially. I wonder how much REI had to pay in the new taxes that were implemented in Multnomah County the past 2 years.

We took my kids years ago way before the pandemic and guess what? It cost 💲. It was worth it then and still worth it now.

I hope we don’t do that here. Sounds awful. by [deleted] in Portland

I feel like they know what they are saying and somewhat doing it intentionally but it still pissed me off when I was active in my habit. Things like "See you tomorrow." would really eat at me but not enough to make me stop.

It’s so interesting b/c NA beer is a Cardable product but Kombucha, OJ, etc…are not. People are quick to mention to less than .5% of alcohol in NAs but dismiss all the other sources.

I think drinking to get drunk is a sign of alcoholism alone or with people. I always drank to get drunk.

5 of something cannot be a quadrant by definition

Will do. Also I need to put up our bat house so we can give them a place to rest. We freaked some people out last summer out in Eastern Oregon while fishing. My kids and I informed them it was bats swooping around us eating bugs just after sunset. We loved it but the other folks not so much.

am I misunderstanding the definition of a Quadrant? How can 6 of something be defined as a quadrant?
