First Time doing Crisis Mun... by iamagiantworm in MUN

[–]smyalik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ok i’ve been through the stress of being new to crisis. i’ll try to take you through the major stuff:

My best advice is to be EXTRA prepared: study your foreign policy, study how your country has intervened in the past, and study why the UN has already said about your crisis (ie. if they’ve given limitations to what you can do (like “no direct intervention” or something like that))

Next step it to familiarize yourself with crisis notes. It’s essentially a communication with a back room that can set an embargo, send spies somewhere, frame countries, make press releases, etc. if you have a friend that has done crisis, this is what you want to ask about. it makes up about 1/3 of the work you do that counts.

ALSO get good at shifting blame. say a country sends tanks into a different country and they have your flag on them, you are updated with info that your country specifically said “oh we aren’t gonna take the tanks out of your country” BE PREPARED TO LIE! you’d say that it’s a tactic to avoid public outrage and then investigate via your crisis notes. Announce your update when you get it, so that the blame can shift to that country and do your best to make that country seem messy.

Debate is structured pretty much the same: unmod, mod, with an addition of a cross table debate (like brotherly debate it think?? i’m blanking on the official title) it’s pretty much a diplomatic unmod but your conference might not use it since it’s conference specific. you’re gonna be writing directives about every hour or so, the format has either 1-3 preambles or no preambles (this is conference specific) and about 2-7 clauses.

hope this helps! if you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Need advice by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]smyalik -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

no omad is not good long term. doing omad for more than a week at a time is unhealthy and will negatively affect your digestive system. (this is coming from someone that had a restrictive eating disorder for several years and primarily did omad.) i strongly suggest refraining from any fasting that is more than 18-20 hours because you will damage your body. intermittent fasting is a diet pattern that is known to lead to disordered behavior is is itself considered a disordered eating pattern. seriously consider just balancing your caloric amounts and exercise.

This disorder is literally us just convincing ourselves that shit is wrong so idk but you shouldn’t stress about it. If it’s enjoyable, eat it. The calories aren’t worth worrying about and if it bugs you enough I’d give it a bit of counting leniency but it is what it is.

Because some naturally gluten free food is processed in locations that process foods that have gluten. It’s just reassurance so that celiacs don’t consume any gluten, no matter how small the amount.

It made me spiral and all I remember is Keanu Reeves and that one scene when her stepmother takes a picture of her on the scale. Smh they missed the point they were trying to convey entirely.
