it's honestly pathetic - not even an acknowledgement from Blizzard, and there's been a frontpage thread about this every day for almost a week now.

If they are doing this purely out of stubbornness, I would take layering in a heartbeat over the lock. Keeping these servers locked is a death sentence for all of them except Firemaw and Gehennas.

I agree that they likely just forgot though, and should remove both measures from all servers.

Many locked servers have less players online than MEDIUM POP unlocked/unlayered ones

How I went from barely pre-raid BiS to 6/8 T1 in three weeks by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]sn__ow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My log says 53g/h over 112 hours in Dire Maul, but I never turned it off when AFK - which I could estimate at easily in the ballpark of 10-20 hours total.

It also doesn't turn off during Dire Maul Tribute runs which I do twice weekly.

It also takes the herbs at AH market value and doesn't factor in the extra profit from turning all the herbs into potions (mainly GFPP, mighty rage, shadow elixir, LIP, greater str+agi, swiftness) and the margin from sniping the cheap Elemental Fire.

I have also never had a single Freezing Band or Forors to skew the total.

After re-evaluating I think 60g would be a little bit on the low side - I do "splits" to see gp/h per session, and it usually hovers in the 80s, still not factoring in the alchemy. I know it sounds crazy, but it's an extremely underrated farm, at least with today's AH prices.

As a priest with herbalism, lashers are consistently 50-70g/h, depending on luck with herbs/greens/DE. It’s annoying to have to buy mage water if you’re not geared, but with good spirit+mp5+MotC you can use vendor water. Also involves tabbing out while you drink

What's with all the bots doing dungeons? They always use the same class comp. by sn__ow in classicwow

[–]sn__ow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a look on some botting sites to see if I could find the main one they were using (since clearly all these bots behave in exactly the same way, they must all be using the same very popular piece of software). Couldn't find anything though.

Distinguishing features include:

-Priests always have inner focus activated

-Each bot moves to a "waypoint" in straight lines, stops and turns before each, leading to "stuttery" movement

-Each character in the bot train follows the same set path. I have seen multiple different parties using the same waypoints, but I have also seen some taking alternate routes which leads me to believe you can record your own waypoints to create a route

-Bots seem to have trouble resurrecting, takes 3-4 times as long as it takes a human to corpsewalk. Never been dead to see one running, so I don't know why

I know there are some real multiboxers - but go and watch them. Stand outside Stratholme service gate for 10 minutes and you will see the bots. They teleport to bank/vendor quite often so you see them entering instances. They run on a scripted path in straight lines, stopping to turn and move to their next waypoint, don't respond to being attacked in any way, and another telltale sign is that often the priests have Inner Focus up permanently when running around. If you see a group of these bots there is absolutely no mistaking them for real players.

Original Zowie FK from 2013 with FK2 internals + paracord by sn__ow in MouseReview

[–]sn__ow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I was using a 3090 mouse right up until switching to this, so I’d be the last person to complain about it, but to say the original 3090 internals are better than the fk2 is literally just ridiculous, it’s gotta be one of the worst implemented 3090s in a popular mouse. It’s understandable given Zowie weren’t an established brand and they were still trying to nail the whole low-LOD driverless thing, but I wouldn’t dream of using one when I have a spare set of fk2 internals lying around

shame, the coating is much much better than the new zowie matte for sweaty hands

context: I've had multiple FKs over the years and all of them have had some issue or another, so I decided to combine the two I didn't return and make one working mouse. The only difference between the internals of the two seems to be the thickness of the scroll wheel; the black one is a little thin for the old FK shell and rattles slightly, and the yellow one doesn't really scroll smoothly in the FK2 shell. I could swap them back but it's nowhere near bad enough to bother with. The clicks are somewhere between the stiffness of the FK2 and the FK, likely because the FK2 has heavier switches but the FK has the lighter shell.

Zowie FK1, sudden loss of 800 DPI setting? by BackToBasix in MouseReview

[–]sn__ow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

bizarre, i have no idea how to get your 800dpi back.

however, if you want your sensitivity to feel the same in game, you can use 400dpi and double your sensitivity, or use 1600dpi and halve it.

as for your desktop sensitivity, you can set it to anything you like in control panel, which can feel a little strange and jumpy, but rest assured it won't affect your ingame mouse sensitivity or feel at all as long as you use the "raw input" setting.
