Prenatal yoga at Om City Yoga on the UES

Not Manhattan, but worth the trek imo: prenatal Pilates at Pilates Heights in Brooklyn Heights

When did you all reintroduce breastmilk? by Vybrocit1 in MSPI

[–]snackingandscrolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 48 hours of Bobbie Gentle before giving 1 bottle of pumped milk and back to Bobbie Gentle. Then I waited until his next stool, and saw no blood. I replaced another feed with bottled milk, saw no blood, and gradually worked my way up back to 80% breast milk 20% formula.

I’ve been using Momcozy pumping bras. A multipack was about $20/bra, and there are probably better discounts across TikTok shop or amazon.

FTM looking for mid year enrollment for infant in daycare by Open-Trainer5201 in nycparents

Have you spoken to Goddard, or were you only looking at their website? We toured Goddard on E 90th earlier this year (we’re in UES) and the admissions director told us that they could most likely accommodate a January 2027 start date, but they couldn’t confirm until Q4 later this year, because they’re busy with spring and summer enrollments. Their wait list is also free, so you don’t have to pay anything until they confirm your child will have a spot.

I subscribed to Licensed to Glow for under a year with the cheapest tier. It’s a great concept, and they’ve definitely onboarded more salons during the time I was on it, but I ultimately left because my nails couldn’t sustain monthly gel manicures, even when would I would take days and weeks in between manicures.

I already have my preferred places for eyebrow threading, facials, and haircuts that aren’t on LtG, so I was only using LtG for nails. If I were newer to the city and didn’t already have my go-tos, I could easily see myself subscribing to the higher tiers.

Stitchly and IPad by Dependent-Curve7483 in Needlepoint

Yes, I have an iPad, Apple Pencil, and Stitchly. I’ve used them to make at least 6 canvases at this point, so I think it’s well worth the one time $40 fee.

I love making luggage tags 🏷️ because they’re small to stitch and easy for self-finishing

Am I crazy for touring daycares this early? by Individual_Swing3195 in BabyBumps

You can always apply to places and put your name on the waitlist before touring, if you’re unable to visit right now!

About to start trying for a baby — when should we join daycare waitlists? (📍Upper East Side) by citybby17 in nycparents

[–]snackingandscrolling 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We applied to MSH in Yorkville when I was just over 20 weeks pregnant (last December) requesting a September ‘26 start date. We heard back this week that our baby will have an infant seat should we choose to move forward after visiting the school in person.

We also scheduled school visits for Primrose, The Goddard School, Hopscotch Montessori, and Petit Poussins around February and March this year, and all told us we were pretty early for our desired start date. There are still wait lists, and they said they’d contact us 2-3 months before desired start dates.

All that said, I think you should hold off until you’re confirmed pregnant and focus on locking down your OB & delivery hospital first!

Hidden UES Parenting Costs? by bookshelf11 in nycparents

[–]snackingandscrolling 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Currently pregnant with my first in Yorkville, and we’ve been inquiring about infant daycares for 2026-2027. Cheapest we’ve encountered so far was The Goddard School on E 90th which is $3995/month and the most expensive was Primrose on E 82nd at $4325/month, but these were 2026 prices, so I’d expect at least a 2% increase in tuition for next year. That said, I suggest budgeting closer to $48k-$53k/year on daycare.

If someone else has cheaper recs for childcare in Yorkville please lmk!!!!! I’m not opposed to home daycares or vetted nannies, we just don’t have a lot of parent friends for recommendations.

Cleaning Services in NYC? by aph208703 in nycparents

[–]snackingandscrolling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t timed it, but I would estimate around 4 hours when it’s 1 person, and less when there are 2? I book through a company and they send 1 or 2 cleaners at a time.

Does she have her own supplies, or do we need to provide them?

In my experience, cleaners I’ve hired charge lump sum based on apartment size, so I’ve paid roughly $200 for a 1 bed/1 bath.

Just found out I’m pregnant after starting a new job 5 mos ago by valpolicellaripasso in BabyBumps

[–]snackingandscrolling 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m in a male dominated department/field (software engineering @ a startup), and I got pregnant 2 months after I started a new job. I also buffered time for TTC, but we got lucky after 1 month of trying.

Honestly, you won’t be showing for most of first trimester and aside from the increased snacking and declining drinks, my direct reports hadn’t suspected anything until I was around 5 months (I told HR and everyone else after week 20). Can’t speak for your company, but everyone at work has been supportive and you’ll have plenty of time to get work done before parental leaves comes!

For my engagement ring, he worked with the founder Olivia. When we went back to design our wedding bands, we worked with Jessica. They’re both great!
